ActiveRoles Quick Connect extends security within the Quest One Identity Solution

Sydney, March 3, 2010 – Quest Software has updated Quest® ActiveRoles® Quick Connect, its optional set of add-on solutions to ActiveRoles Server that provide cross-platform provisioning and deprovisioning for automated identity, password and access synchronisation.

The new versions include support for Microsoft SharePoint, SAP Solutions and password synchronisation. ActiveRoles Quick Connect is a central component of Quest® One Identity Solution, which provides heterogeneous identity and access management capabilities.

Securing isolated SharePoint sites
In some instances, SharePoint sites containing sensitive corporate data have been created by employees outside of the IT department. SharePoint is managed separately from Active Directory, and these isolated sites can create major security concerns for an organisation.

The new SharePoint integration in Quick Connect helps with this use case by providing unmanaged sites a clear migration path to an IT-managed state through Active Directory integration. In addition, it enables IT to provision user access in real time, extend access certification reviews to SharePoint site owners and provide optional policies to disable groups.

Provisioning SAP
Many enterprise organisations rely on Active Directory and SAP to manage users’ identities. ActiveRoles Quick Connect takes the next step for further integration, enabling provisioning of SAP accounts, and offering the capability of assigning SAP roles that manage access to various SAP modules. This new integration continues to demonstrate how ActiveRoles Quick Connect automates management for IT and enhances security among systems.

Password synchronisation
Quick Connect enables IT to centrally manage identities between connected systems. More than likely, each of these systems requires separate passwords that can create security concerns, and, maintaining all of these passwords is a hassle for users and administrators alike. In this new version, Quick Connect can synchronise passwords between Active Directory and connected systems. The Quick Connect Capture Agent tracks changes that were made to user passwords in Active Directory, and then Quick Connect Sync Engine synchronises the passwords based on this information.
