Sydney, 17 May 2010 — Today, mid-market business solutions leader Eclipse Computing (Australia) Pty Ltd (Eclipse), a UXC Limited company, announced the acquisition of key assets and intellectual property of MXL Consolidated Pty Ltd (MXL) in a deal that will provide continuity of development for MXL’s specialist education software in Australia under Eclipse’s EduPoint brand. Eclipse has acquired all of the intellectual property of MXL and retained key employees who will form the basis of a new software education practice within Eclipse, provide support for existing clients and market the application throughout Australia and internationally.Eclipse is an established ERP vendor in the mid-market. One of the top ten Microsoft Dynamics partners globally, Eclipse has successfully integrated MXL with the Microsoft Dynamics AX financials at a number of schools. This integrated solution forms the foundation of the EduPoint enterprise solution.

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is rolling out the EduPoint solution as the student administration and financial backbone for its 134+ schools with more than 65,000 students enrolled. BCE chief information officer, Warren Armitage is supportive of the acquisition. “Eclipse is the ideal business partner to take on MXL. They are well positioned to apply the commercial discipline and investment necessary to sustain and grow the EduPoint solution to the highest standards. This is a win for EduPoint, Eclipse and the education sector,” said Mr Armitage.

Bradley Stroop, chief executive officer, Eclipse said “This acquisition allows Eclipse to leverage our existing investment in EduPoint and harness other skills within our Eclipse Applications Development and Quality Assurance practices. It really is an exciting opportunity for Eclipse to deepen our reach into the public sector with this new IP.”

“Eclipse and Microsoft have identified education as a key market for public investment where real efficiencies can be made using smart solutions to improve connectivity between stakeholders: schools, parents, teachers and students.”

“Built on the Microsoft .NETplatform the software design, development, training and support activities relating to these products are covered by an ISO 9001:2008 certified Quality Management System. That means we really have a solid foundation to work from.” Mr Stroop said.

This acquisition is also a good fit with the Eclipse parent, UXC Limited and their strategy of investing in Australian-based ICT businesses. “This represents a great opportunity to secure valuable intellectual property that complements the broad capabilities of the Group”, said Geoff Lord, UXC Executive Chairman. “EduPoint will have every opportunity to thrive as part of the UXC Group and its customers can be reassured that their investment in its solutions is now backed by the largest Australian-owned ICT services company.”
