Quest

Market-leading solution manages infrastructure performance, availability and capacity across virtual and cloud environments

Sydney – September 2, 2010 Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) today announced that vFoglight®, its market-leading solution for virtualisation monitoring and capacity planning, will support Microsoft Hyper-V and provide increased automation of virtual infrastructures with vFoglight 6.5, currently planned for release in Q4 2010.  vFoglight now also supports Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange.  Quest has been demonstrating these capabilities at VMworld, held at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, August 30 through September 2.

As infrastructures become increasingly complex, and critical applications are run on virtual and cloud infrastructure, IT teams are increasingly challenged to manage and control their environment.  vFoglight answers a critical need for a single tool to manage the virtual layer and provide visibility “up the stack” into the infrastructure and applications running in that environment.  With these enhancements, Quest customers can better deliver on virtualisation’s promise of reducing costs and increasing efficiency while simplifying management.

Quest is working to set a new standard for analysing and monitoring performance and capacity across physical, virtual and cloud infrastructures while easing administration through automation.

Laurence Cole, managing director, Australia and New Zealand, Quest Software said, “More than 20,000 customers use Quest daily to manage their virtual infrastructures.  By giving organisations greater application visibility, added administrative control, and support across multiple hypervisor platforms, we are helping to simplify virtualisation management and reduce operational costs.”

Features and enhancements included in vFoglight 6.5 include:

  • extended hypervisor support – manage multiple hypervisor platforms, including VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, more consistently and effectively.
  • administration – reduce time and costs of empowering administrators to start, stop and pause VMs, in the context of daily activities.
  • event remediation – administrators can view alarms then speed mean-time-to-resolution for problems by launching workflows to automate resolution.
  • user perspectives – designed to provide administrators tailored views for understanding performance monitoring, capacity planning, chargeback, and more.
  • enhanced FAQts – first introduced with vFoglight 6.0, the enhanced FAQts in vFoglight 6.5 provide factual information about the dynamic infrastructure, displayed clearly for administrators.
