Fluke Networks AANPM solution wins two 2014 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Awards

Fluke NetworksSeptember 25, 2014 – Fluke Networks, a world-leading provider of network monitoring and test solutions, has been honoured with two 2014 Communications Solutions Product of the Year awards from TMC, a global integrated media company, for  its Application-Aware Network Performance Management (AANPM) solution – Visual TruView™ and OptiView® XG.

As one of TMC’s most coveted awards, the Communications Solutions Product of the Year honours exceptional products and services updated or brought to market in the last year that facilitate voice, data and video communications solutions. The Fluke Networks products honored are:

  • Visual TruView, a unified AANPM solution that incorporates five network and application monitoring tools in one, and
  • OptiView XG, the company’s flagship portable network analysis tablet that automates root-cause analysis of wired and wireless network and application problems.

Fluke Networks integrated the two products earlier this year to provide the industry’s first AANPM solution capable of analysing an enterprise’s entire network infrastructure and providing a unified view of wired and wireless performance across the entire organisation, including the data centre, remote sites and applications delivered across cloud, carrier and enterprise networks.

This integration was awarded “Leader” standing in Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant for Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics* (AANPM is also known as NPMD) earlier this year for its completeness of vision, ease of use and overall value in delivering complete application and network performance management in a truly unified way.

Frost & Sullivan also recently honored the Fluke Networks AANPM solution with the 2014 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation Leadership.

Key features of the Fluke Networks AANPM solution include:

  • End-to-end visibility that includes wired and wireless, application performance and device interconnectivity, and in-depth path analysis all the way from the data centre to an end user’s specific device.
  • Unified network and appliance performance view across an organisation, eliminating the need for disparate, “swivel-chair” troubleshooting and finger pointing across IT teams when problems arise.
  • Flexible deployment options that include Visual TruView installation as a standalone appliance or part of a multi-appliance distributed configuration, and OptiView XG deployment as an endpoint at remote sites or in a centralised location.
  • Best-in-class value, increasing operations effectiveness, shorter Mean Time to Repair, and improved ROI on network and application management solution investments.

Quotes:

“The Fluke Networks AANPM solution has won both industry awards and customer praise for its ability to bridge the Application Performance Management and Network Performance Management visibility gap,” said Daryle DeBalski, vice president and general manager of the Fluke Networks Visual business unit. “Our team’s mission is to streamline network performance monitoring and troubleshooting so our customers can solve issues faster to meet organisational needs and deliver the best possible end-user experience. This award is further validation that the market values our innovation.”

“Congratulations to Fluke Networks for receiving two 2014 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Awards,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO of TMC. “Visual TruView and OptiView XG have demonstrated true innovation and are among the best solutions that facilitate voice, data and video communications brought to market in the past twelve months. I look forward to continued excellence from Fluke Networks in 2014 and beyond.”

UXC Connect awarded ‘Global Transformational Partner of the Year’ and ‘APAC Most Innovative Cloud Partner of the Year’ by Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise

UXC Connect LogoMarch 17, 2014UXC Connect has been awarded ‘Global Transformational Partner of the Year’ and ‘APAC Most Innovative Cloud Partner of the Year’ at the 2014 Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Global Executive Partner Days conference.

Ian Poole, CEO, UXC Connect, said, “These awards demonstrate UXC Connect’s commitment and vision in building and launching its cloud-based Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) solution called iTaaS for enterprises”.

In August 2013, in collaboration with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, UXC Connect launched iTaaS to deliver unified communications as a service to Australian organisations. The solution helps enterprises take advantage of the commercial and technical flexibility and cost-effectiveness of a cloud-based model to address the challenge of delivering communications services for a highly mobile, application-driven workforce.

iTaas is based on the Alcatel-Lucent OpenTouch Enterprise Cloud (OTEC) platform. UXC Connect was the first partner globally to take OTEC to the market. As well as offering the service directly to existing customers, UXC Connect is expanding its go-to-market model to offer the service to more customers through other system integrators and service providers.

Poole said, “Today’s enterprises need to connect employees in a workspace that is defined by multiple work styles, devices and applications. Digital communication and collaboration have dissolved the rigid bonds between occupation and location and between our private and professional lives. Work is now something you do, not somewhere you go.

“This shift is fuelled by consumerisation, explosive growth in mobility, cloud computing and unified communications. In addition, tough economic conditions and increased competition means that organisations need to reconsider everything from real estate and technology to new cultural models.”

In response, UXC Connect is offering customers a range of true consumption-based workspace bundles that includes unified communications, desktop hardware and office applications like Google Apps.

UXC Connect is also enabling the transformation of its customer’s network infrastructure by implementing Alcatel-Lucent’s Unified Access solution. This solution gives users a consistent network service and application experience on both wired and wireless devices.

Industry Awards, great for your brand but are they news?

Industry Awards, great for your brand but are they news?Everybody loves to get awards. Being named vendor of the year by a magazine or having a leading analyst house name you the most innovative brand in your marketplace (for example) is an extremely positive experience.

In terms of brand building and being a great internal story that increases morale it does not get much better. And quite naturally, when a company wins an award the first thing it’s leadership team often want to do is tell the world via the media. The question is, does the media care when companies win awards?

Certainly, your existing and future customers care, so making sure you incorporate an award win or endorsement into your marketing and sales process is an obvious tactic.

Over the years I have had many organisations contact me about writing a news release about receiving an industry award and the question I ask is always them is the same: “Is this news?”

The fact is, many awards are created by media outlets as a way for them to build solidarity with their advertising community and valued readership. Unfortunately, that means that other media outlets are not going to report on it. It’s simply not in their interest to raise the profile of a competitor organisation. There are always some exceptions to this and that ultimately depends on the profile of the awards.

Imagine calling up one of your competitors to ask if they would mind running a story on their website about a client you just won. You can imagine the kind of response you would get. It’s pretty much how most media outlets feel when asked to do the same thing by unwary companies.

The news angle that many companies overlook however is how and what they are doing so well that is resulting in them winning awards – not the awards themselves. The award is an interesting proof point and might be useful to illustrate a point in an interview, but it’s more likely the journalist will be interested in knowing about the expertise, business practices and insights you bring to the market.

And remember, just because awards are not usually news for most media outlets there plenty of other things you can do to share your good fortune internally and externally with existing and potential customers.

Here are a few quick tips:

– post a LinkedIn update to your company page and suggest staff ‘like’ the post so it is shared with their networks
– tweet about it through your company Twitter account and encourage retweeting
– post an update to the your company online newsroom
– write a blog post and publish the link on relevant social networks
– use the award branding (if permitted) on your website or in email signatures
– send direct mail to customers and prospects to highlight your accomplishments (and potentially their part in helping you win).
