Brennan IT wins AusCERT 2018 security award for Member Organisation of the Year

Brennan IT LogoSydney, Australia – Brennan IT has been named the AusCERT 2018 Member Organisation of the Year in recognition that the company fixed the largest percentage of vulnerabilities or incidents reported by AusCERT through its member security incident notifications (MSINs).

Stephen Sim, CEO, Brennan IT, said, “This award wasn’t decided by a vote or a panel; it was based purely on performance and numbers.

“Combatting cyber risks is a key strategic business issue for organisations around the world. Like many other businesses, Brennan IT continues to search for ways to proactively improve cybersecurity across the organisation. This award recognises that the business has done that successfully and, although the work will never be done with regard to cybersecurity, it confirms Brennan IT’s ongoing proactive commitment to security.”

Brennan IT takes a multi-layered approach to cybersecurity recognising that attacks can come from a wide range of sources. It’s essential that individual security products and technologies work together to form a cohesive security fabric that covers the complete ICT environment – from the network and endpoint to the cloud and beyond. This is the only way to combat cyber-attacks and minimise the occurrence of a data breach.

Stephen Sims said, “Brennan IT subscribes to the Australian Signals Directorate’s (ASD) cybersecurity guidelines known as the ‘Essential Eight’. We’ve designed our security capabilities around these ‘Essential Eight’ so our customers know their IT environment has the highest security in place.”

AusCERT is the Australian Cyber Emergency Response Team. Members benefit not just from MSINs but also from an incident management service, regular security bulletins, and a malicious URL feed that lets members add malicious websites to their firewalls so users don’t accidentally access these sites.

This year’s awards were sponsored by the SANS Institute, which offers information security training, certification, and training.

Brennan IT confirms three-year partnership with Endeavour Foundation

Brennan IT LogoBrisbane, Australia – Brennan IT has announced it re-signed its partnership with not-for-profit charity organisation, Endeavour Foundation, to provide WAN and co-location services. The three-year agreement extends the existing relationship between Endeavour Foundation and Brennan IT, which commenced in 2009.

The new deal follows an extensive collaborative process with Endeavour Foundation, during which Brennan IT engaged in multiple iterations of technical and commercial workshops to shape the solution appropriately. During this time, Brennan IT’s flexibility and focus on simplification meant the project expanded to include the migration of multiple multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) networks into a single, Brennan IT MPLS network.

Endeavour Foundation highlighted its key business requirements, largely driven by the changes needed to implement NDIS, as flexibility, consolidation and simplification of the current MPLS network from multiple providers. The Foundation anticipated this would deliver cost savings while providing scalability and flexibility for rapid growth and contraction according to its needs. Brennan IT also needed to guarantee system availability with confirmed service level agreements (SLAs) and a comprehensive support model.

Sharon Herridge, head of technology, Endeavour Foundation, said, “Flexibility and the ability to simplify complex networks were key to Endeavour Foundation. It was also essential to choose a strategic partner that could offer flexible commercial terms to enable ongoing alignment with business requirements. Brennan IT delivered on all counts, working closely with Endeavour Foundation to deliver a commercial and technical solution that will position Endeavour Foundation strongly for future growth.”

The new solution includes more than 250 WAN links including co-located internet and cross-connects, managed hardware including 3G routers and Wi-Fi access points, and co-located rack space.

Stephen Sims, CEO, Brennan IT, said, “This new partnership extends Brennan IT’s long and successful history of working with Endeavour Foundation to support the flexibility, growth, and strategic initiatives of the business. This contract was signed after extensive due diligence during which Brennan IT proved its commitment to Endeavour Foundation and demonstrated its capability to deliver according to the customer’s needs. We’re looking forward to finalising and delivering the WAN migration project.”

Brennan IT has been a longtime strategic partner of Endeavour Foundation and proud sponsor of the organisation’s various charity events, including the annual Charity Golf Challenge and the recent Melbourne Cup Luncheon.

Brennan IT celebrates 20 years of excellence in the Australian mid-market

Brennan IT LogoFrom humble beginnings in a loft in Balmain to number one managed services provider in Australia

Sydney, Australia – Leading managed services provider, Brennan IT, is celebrating 20 years of excellence in providing IT services and solutions to the mid-market. From humble beginnings in a loft in Balmain, the company has grown to be the number one managed services provider in Australia, ranked 8 years in a row[1].

Brennan IT was founded in 1997 and, as it celebrates 20 years in the industry, the company has grown to a team of 400+ employees, servicing more than 1,000 customers across various industries. Brennan IT has always been at the forefront of change in the IT channel, transforming into a managed services provider that delivers a range of capabilities in cloud computing, networking, unified communications, security, and digital disruption.

Dave Stevens, founder and non-executive chair, Brennan IT, said, “Brennan IT was built to service the Australian mid-market. At the time we started the company, medium-sized businesses were really underserviced in IT, it was difficult for them to access high quality technology, knowledge and services. We identified a gap in the market, to provide enterprise grade solutions at affordable rates.

“Over the last 20 years I think we’ve done an exceptional job of making our clients lives easier and assisting them to improve their business…. However, there is always more to do and today we are more focused on providing value to our clients than ever before. New technologies come along every day and our role is to assess the suitability of these for our clients and reject the hype or alternatively double down on the technologies that will make a difference to our clients”.

“As Brennan IT is a mid-market company, we know our clients’ pain points because we have the same ones. We know what businesses need to be able to grow from a small company to a medium-sized one as we have done it ourselves.”

Brennan IT was an early pioneer of the cloud, being one of the first companies to bring cloud technology to the Australian mid-market over a decade ago. The company delivers exceptional customer service to the largest of brands and businesses including Local Government Super, Guide Dogs, Forever New, and Strandbags.

Brennan IT is gearing up for strong growth, with aggressive targets to increase the size of the business over the next few years. To reach these growth targets, the company is focusing on optimising and future proofing its own IT infrastructure, as well as developing the services and solutions portfolio in line with the customer needs.

Stephen Sims, CEO, Brennan IT said, “The experience our clients have when dealing with Brennan IT is our number one focus. This is what we are passionate about, as a Managed Services Provider, we distinguish ourselves by our high level of service. We measure every single client interaction so that we can always improve every step.

This year we also began measuring our Net Promoter Score. We are currently sitting at 55 which is above industry standard. This is a reflection of the effort and focus we have on making our clients’ lives easier.

Our priority for the year is driving a seamless experience for our clients, no matter what area of the business they deal with. Our service teams are designed from top to bottom to promote the fastest and most effective responses to our clients’ needs. Getting to know clients, understanding their needs and getting familiar with their business are the fundamentals. Offering strategic advice to help our clients drive their own business outcomes is where our teams really add value.

Our clients trust us because we have a proven track record. We are well-established, with maturity and longevity in our sector. Rest assured, we’ll be here long into the future as a strategic partner for the mid-market.”
