March 5, 2012 – RSM Bird Cameron, one of the largest mid-tier accounting firms in Australia, has announced six new appointments, demonstrating the ongoing growth of the firm.
The new appointments include:
* Bruce Bailey, Peter Saccasan, Pat Flanagan and Anthony Smith appointed Partner/Director – business solutions in Sydney
* Ian Douglas, appointed Partner/Director – corporate finance in Sydney
* Jim Adamson, appointed Principal – business solutions in Narrogin.

Bruce’s focus is on maximising cash flow for clients by working with them to develop financial strategies, manage overall tax outcomes and assist them in investing free cash flow outside of their core activity.
He was previously a managing director at Guild Accountants. Prior to that he was managing director at Saccasan Bailey Partners, principal at B L Bailey & Associates and senior accountant at R A Smith & Co.
Bruce is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Bruce holds an Institute of Company Directors Diploma, a Masters of Taxation Law from Sydney University and a Bachelor of Financial Administration from the University of New England. He has also completed the Leading Professional Services Firms program at Harvard Business School.
Peter heads up RSM Bird Cameron’s national pharmacy team, aiming to deliver industry-based solutions to pharmacy owners in Australia.
He was previously an executive director and director of Pharmacy Services at Guild Accountants. Prior to that he was an executive director and director of Pharmacy Services at Saccasan Bailey Partners.
Peter is a fellow of the Australian College of Pharmacy, fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia. He holds a Masters of Economics from Macquarie University a Bachelor of Financial Administration from the University of New England, has completed Leading Professional Services Firms program at Harvard Business School and the Strategic Planning & Management in Retailing program at the Australian Centre of Retail Studies.
Pat advises SME owners on how to acquire, structure and divest businesses, raise capital, improve financial performance to maximise enterprise value and implement succession plans.
He was previously a principal at Guild Accountants. Prior to that he was executive director of a private health care group in London, which had operations in the UK and Republic of Ireland. He has also worked for KPMG, servicing publicly listed clients in Australia and Asia Pacific.
Pat is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.
Anthony returns to RSM Bird Cameron to work closely with clients to deliver practical and timely advice to help them realise business objectives.
He was previously the chief financial officer for the family enterprises of David Clarke AO, former chairman and co-founder of Macquarie Group, which included the Poole’s Rock wine company, Rock Restaurant and event promotions company, Champions Downunder.
Anthony is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Ian leads the corporate finance division in Sydney providing expertise in valuation for tax purposes, mergers & acquisitions, valuation of infrastructure and alternative assets for financial reporting, valuations for employee share schemes, financial due diligence and litigation support.
Before joining RSM Bird Cameron, Ian founded the Australian office of American Appraisal, a global independent valuation house, and held senior roles in the transaction advisory and valuation divisions of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Ian is a member of the Business Valuation Special Interest Group of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a senior associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Jim has extensive practical experience with farming and rural businesses offering informed insight into the pressures faced by businesses and families in rural areas.
He was previously a manager at RSM Bird Cameron and has worked at RSM Bird Cameron for 25 years.
Jim is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). He holds a Bachelor of Business from Edith Cowan University and an Associate Diploma of Agriculture from Curtin University.
