UXC Connect wins iTaaS contract with Accor Asia Pacific

UXC Connect LogoAugust 27 2014UXC Connect has entered an agreement with Accor Asia Pacific to implement its cloud based communications service, iTaaS, with the first solution being implemented for the Ibis Adelaide, which opened in July 2014.

In an Australian first, UXC Connect, working with Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, has offered Accor Asia Pacific a commercial model that charges the communications service on a per occupied room per night basis. UXC Connect created an industry-specific consumption-based model for the hotel group to address growing demand in the market for a pay-per-use model when it comes to telephony and related services. For Accor this was about creating a flexible cost model in line with business demand whereby the hotel only pays for the rooms that are in use.

iTaaS is a cloud communications solution partially or fully managed by UXC Connect for a monthly fee per user per feature. iTaaS offers fixed line telephony, unified messaging, presence and instant messaging, conferencing and mobility features that can be purchased separately or as a complete package.

Ian Poole, CEO of UXC Connect, said, “UXC Connect’s win with leading hotel chain Accor Asia Pacific highlights the importance of providing solutions that address customers’ unique business challenges.

“To succeed in the highly competitive hospitality market, hotels are challenged to meet escalating customer expectations while keeping strict control of both capital and operational costs. Hotels are looking to maximise revenue per room by delivering services at a predictable cost that is directly aligned to hotel occupancy.

“This strategic win positions UXC Connect as a leader in the growing Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) market. In addition to offering cloud-based communications technology, UXC Connect has demonstrated a progressive commercial model, based on consumption, that can be adapted to a particular business or aligned to the financial demands of any industry including larger enterprises, universities, government organisations and health care providers.

“UXC Connect is well-placed to implement the model across the extensive Accor hotel network both by equipping new hotels and transitioning existing properties.”

Paul Smith, CIO, Accor Asia Pacific, said, “Accor Asia Pacific needed a different solution for delivering telephone services to guests and staff at the hotels. In fact, this had been a need for many years with call revenue declining. The UXC Connect solution was the only product we had seen in the market that came close to achieving the company’s goals. Fortunately, the new IBIS Adelaide owners were willing to try something different.

“Along with the technical capability, Accor Asia Pacific needed suppliers that were able to understand and meet our business needs. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise structured a licensing model that reflected our business by working together to understand how hospitality performance is measured and applying this to the licensing of the product. This meant that costs could flex with the occupancy of the hotel and not the ports connected.

“Together UXC Connect and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise provided a capability that was technically sound and adaptable to the unique needs of a hospitality business.”

“This contract helps shape the future of enterprise communications by expanding the boundaries of traditional telephony. It combines a state-of-the-art communications technology with a consumption-based business model to give Accor hotels a competitive advantage. It also fosters innovation-inducing outcome-based relationships where reward is linked to performance,” said Michel Emelianoff, President, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.

UXC Connect has partnered with Accor Australia for more than 10 years, primarily meeting its voice requirements and currently supporting 30,000 voice ports across the Accor portfolio.
