CenturyLink increases network connectivity options for global data centre customers

Century Link Logo

CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) has announced it has significantly increased the number of network carriers available for interconnections across its data center portfolio. CenturyLink customers now have access to 99 different carriers and network providers across the company’s 58 data centres throughout North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. CenturyLink offers an average of seven network carrier connections at each data centre, and some facilities offer more than 20 unique providers.

The expanded connectivity options enable companies to stay better connected with their customers in today’s “data-centric” environment. CenturyLink’s growing Interconnection Ecosystem facilitates secure, reliable data centre connectivity by offering hosting and colocation customers direct, low-latency connectivity to a broad array of ecosystems beyond the walls of the data centres. Robust connectivity options provide access to ISVs, content-delivery networks, financial matching engines, carrier hotels and on-net access to more than 260 data centre facilities.

“In today’s increasingly digital world, businesses, government agencies and consumers alike face drastically increased needs for connectivity,” said David Meredith, senior vice president, global data centres, CenturyLink. “In order to meet this steep demand, organisations must take a hybrid IT approach and maximise the value of their IT assets. By accessing several different data centre carriers, CenturyLink customers are better positioned to deliver reliable and secure connections for their clients.”

“As the fast-evolving digital economy accelerates the market need for agile and secure IT infrastructure environments, organisations are leveraging colocation providers to extend their IT footprints in facilities with reliable and performance-optimised network interconnection ecosystems,” said Melanie Posey, Research Vice President at IDC. “The digital economy is geographically dispersed; therefore, IDC sees a long-term need for distributed IT environments and diverse, interconnected networks.”

The increase in carrier connections follows an announcement made earlier this year by CenturyLink about the expansion of its global data centre footprint, new facility certifications and leading-edge innovations for hosting services. Independent research firm recognises Teradata Integrated Marketing Cloud as a leader in real-time interaction management

Teradata LogoSYDNEY, Australia – Teradata Marketing Applications, a division of Teradata Corp. (NYSE: TDC), the big data analytics and marketing applications company, has announced that Forrester Research, Inc., a leading independent research firm, has recognised Teradata as a Leader in Real-Time Interaction Management (RTIM). RTIM is a key part of the Teradata Integrated Marketing Cloud, and is what allows marketers to deliver relevant, real-time offers and messages across digital or offline channels to best meet the most current needs of each individual customer. The report was released July 29, 2015, as “The Forrester Wave™: Real-Time Interaction Management, Q3 2015,” authored by Rusty Warner, with Srividya Sridharan, Olivia French and Matthew Izzi.

Forrester defines Real-Time Interaction Management as, “Enterprise marketing technology that delivers contextually relevant experiences, value and utility at the appropriate moment in the customer life-cycle via preferred customer touchpoints.”

In the report, Forrester evaluated eleven RTIM vendors against 35 specifically defined criteria. Teradata received the highest scores among all vendors in the “Capabilities” category, and tied for highest score in the “Solution Strategy” category.

Specifically, the report notes Teradata “builds on cross-channel campaign management strengths,” and that it “provides an enterprise-class decision engine for digital and offline execution.” The report also states that Teradata “references praise customer profiles and segmentation, analytics, business rules, and recommendation capabilities,” and states that Teradata “made investments to address digital experience delivery across the retail, travel, hospitality, financial services, and telecommunications sectors.”

Marketers continually seek better ways to deliver more contextually relevant experiences for their customers. And analytics solutions have evolved significantly to where some RTIM solutions, such as Teradata Real-Time Interaction Manager, can leverage data across both digital and offline channels.

“Telenor Denmark is developing an integrated, enterprise approach to planning, developing and managing customer communication across multiple channels, product lines, and business locations. Teradata Real-Time Interaction Manager is enabling us to leverage data in our network, billing and CRM systems to communicate with customers based on real-time events to deliver real-time personalised next-best offers,” said Petr Taborsky, senior director, Customer and Business Intelligence, Telenor Denmark.

“Marketers want and need to deliver individualised messages in a meaningful context. And consumers expect informed, real-time dialogue with brands. Our real-time decisioning makes this possible. I believe that this new report recognises the contributions Teradata is making as a leader in this important category,” said Bob Fair, Teradata Co-President and head of Teradata Marketing Applications.

Fluke 2638A Hydra Series III Data Acquisition System provides best-in-class thermocouple accuracy in a portable system

Fluke 2638ANovember 6, 2013Fluke Corporation introduces the Fluke® 2638A Hydra Series III, the latest addition to the Hydra line of Data Acquisition Systems / Digital Multimeters.

The Fluke 2638A features a full-colour display with an easy-to-use menu system, DC measurement accuracy of 0.0024 per cent, 6.5 digit DMM mode and CAT II safety ratings. This makes it a truly industrial grade, precision data acquisition (DAQ) system.

The 2638A incorporates the Fluke Universal Input Connector that supports 15 common thermocouple types and delivers thermocouple accuracy of 0.5 degrees Celsius. The inexpensive, plug-in Universal Input Connector has 22 channels of differential analogue input (expandable to 66 channels) for wiring multi-channel systems. Once a system is wired, the connector can be disconnected and the 2638A moved and connected to another input connector, eliminating the need to disconnect and rewire test setups.

Selectable measurement input types include dc voltage, ac voltage, resistance, thermocouple, RTD, thermistor, frequency, and dc and ac current.

The Hydra Series III has 20 on-board math channels with alarm settings for even complex math calculations that record results to your data file during each scan. It can chart real-time data of up to four channels at once with a history mode that allows scrolling through previously collected data within the scan file without a PC or expensive charting programs. Optional application software is available for connecting several units together for larger system configuration of up to 2000 channels.

The Hydra Series III has on-board memory for storing more than 57,000 data records and configuration files, as well as a USB port to collect and store large files directly to a USB drive. The USB and LAN interfaces allow easy connection to PCs and networks.
