Wavelink Logo

Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, has announced the release of its line of next-generation IP phones, the D65, D62 and D60. Digium phones are the only IP handsets specifically engineered to fully leverage the power of Asterisk, the world’s most widely-adopted open source communications software, and Switchvox, Digium’s award-winning unified communications (UC) system. The new models feature a large, colour display with modern design and a sleek footprint that appeals to businesses of all sizes and users who desire state-of-the-art technology.

The newly released Digium phones include the following models:
• D65 – An executive-level, feature-rich HD phone with a 4.3 inch colour display, wireless headset support, 6-line keys with 20 scrolling pages of Rapid Dial/Busy Lamp Field (BLF) keys, and dual 10/100/1000 Mbps network ports. This model is ideal for executives and users who need a colour display, top-of-the-line features, and require Gigabit networking.
• D62 – A mid-level HD phone with a 4.3 inch colour display, 2-line keys, and dual 10/100/1000 Mbps network ports. This is Digium’s best value for users who need a colour display and require Gigabit networking.
• D60 – An entry-level HD phone with a 4.3 inch colour display, 2-line keys, and dual 10/100 Mbps network ports. The D60 is Digium’s best value for any user who needs a colour display, but does not require Gigabit networking.

“Digium phones are the only phones tightly integrated with Asterisk and Asterisk-based phone systems, including Digium’s Switchvox. No other phones on the market offer their advanced feature set,” said Malcolm Davenport, Digium senior product manager. “In addition to easy plug-and-play deployment, all models include the Digium Phone App Engine, which enables the phones to run user-developed JavaScript applications to enhance productivity. Apps like interactive voicemail, visual call parking, one-touch call recording, searchable contact directory, and presence management, all take advantage of the unique and rich data connection between Digium phones and Asterisk.”

Launching alongside the next-generation Digium IP phones is a new release of Switchvox, version 6.3. New features include multicast audio and call parking enhancements. Multicast audio support enables phones to receive wide-area announcements and pages without consuming additional resources on a Switchvox system. A significant enhancement to call parking allows users to create multiple custom-defined parking lots and assign them to different users and groups.

The new Digium phone models are now available.

Digium introduces the Switchvox Softphone for iPhone

Wavelink LogoDecember 4, 2014 – Digium®, Inc. has announced the release of its Switchvox Softphone for iPhone app. This new app offers the power of a Digium IP Phone on an iPhone, to enable enterprise mobility for Digium’s Switchvox business phone system users. Like Digium’s desktop phone, the Switchvox Softphone for iPhone is simple to setup, and presents users with a rich feature-set to receive and make calls, check voicemail, set a personal status, and see a coworker’s status.

“The Switchvox Softphone for iPhone lets you take your business phone wherever you go, so that you have the tools you need to serve your customers effectively and collaborate with coworkers,” said Adam Kramer, product manager for the Switchvox product line. “Switchvox and the desktop Digium IP Phones set a high bar for quality and user experience, and the app raises that bar; it’s intuitive for users and effortless for administrators to manage.”

The app delivers the same powerful communications experience that traditional desktop phone users have with Switchvox. That robust feature set is now extended to employees who take advantage of their company’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy, as well as remote workers, telecommuters, and any of a company’s mobile workforce.

With the app, you can make and receive calls, record, transfer, and 3-way conference. Your favourite contacts are automatically displayed with their status details, and all of your Switchvox contacts are available for direct calls and transfers to voicemail. You can also access your iPhone contacts to dial any number via Switchvox. A call log displays your recent calls for easy reference and re-dialing, and audio options let you use the speaker or a headset.

The app also includes voicemail (play, delete, and call-back), and easy access to your status setting. The status you set in the app is available for your Switchvox coworkers to see, and can control what happens to your incoming calls and what greeting is played when callers reach your voicemail.
The Switchvox Softphone for iPhone supports iOS 8 and is available for free in the Apple Store https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/switchvox-softphone/id905124827?ls=1&mt=8.  It’s easily assigned to a Switchvox phone extension and requires a Switchvox subscription. For more details, see the www.digium.com/switchvoxmobility softphone web page.

Frost Sullivan Global Growth Leadership Award presented to Digium; company recognised as one of top SMB IP PBX vendors

Wavelink LogoNovember 20, 2012 — Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, is pleased to announce it has received the 2012 Frost & Sullivan Global Growth Leadership Award for impressive growth of its Switchvox Unified Communications (UC) solution for small and medium businesses (SMB). Frost & Sullivan presents this award annually to the company that has demonstrated excellence in capturing the highest annual compound growth rate for the past three years.

“Digium has demonstrated considerable growth in the challenging, but rapidly growing SMB market, positioning itself as one of the top SMB IP PBX vendors in the world,” said Alaa Saayed, senior industry analyst with Frost & Sullivan. “Their all-in-one Switchvox solution provides a best-in-class business IP solution, with compelling functionality and competitive pricing, making Digium a major competitor in the overall enterprise communications platforms market. They are well-positioned to leverage this market leadership and strength to further expand into the SMB communications segment, where comprehensive features and competitive pricing are critical to success.”

“We are honoured to be recognised as a market leader as a result of our growth of Switchvox, but we’re also happy that Frost & Sullivan acknowledged this growth was possible because of the innovation and value Switchvox provides,” said Leslie Conway, vice president of global marketing at Digium. “This research and award echoes what we hear from customers every day—businesses need a phone system that enables them to stay one step ahead of their peers in today’s competitive market. The flexibility, ease of use and competitive pricing we offer allows our customers to do just that.”

Digium’s Switchvox integrates many features such as PBX, fixed mobile convergence and mobility, conference bridge, call queues, fax server, instant messaging, unified messaging, presence, video calling, recording and monitoring, as well as reporting and call logging software functions onto a single appliance. Key applications can be accessed through the highly customisable Switchboard Web interface that provides every user with a personalised view of their communications environment and tools. Digium offers Digium IP phones that extend the power of the Switchvox system to the desktop, with easy access to visual voicemail, real-time status information, call queue details and more. The Digium IP phones offer the tightest integration possible with Switchvox, incorporating plug-and-play installation, so that extensions and phones can be added in minutes.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.

“Digium’s success with Switchvox is commendable when considering how the SMB UC marketplace has seen a lot of competitors come and go,” said Rob Arnold, senior industry analyst with Frost & Sullivan. “Customers expect value, and vendors need to deliver that value to stand out. As a previous winner of the Customer Value Enhancement Award in UC for SMBs, I think Digium has created a unique advantage with Switchvox; their ‘enterprise class features at a price you can afford’ value proposition has certainly resonated with customers.”

Digium designs its solutions for sophisticated functionality without complex ownership responsibilities. Switchvox is designed to be cost-effective over the lifecycle of the system, without expensive add-ons for features that support mobility and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) mobile strategies, as well as customisation through the open API. The API provides users access to business applications such as Salesforce or SugarCRM. It also allows them to integrate with third-party business applications.

“All of these options can save time and improve productivity, allowing clients to work where and how they want to work,” said Conway. “Switchvox is well-positioned to give businesses a competitive advantage since our UC system gives them access to features they might have considered outside their reach. This system provides the best value for price-sensitive SMB customers.”

Wavelink announces the addition of fixed mobile convergence to Digium Switchvox’s award-winning unified communications solution

Melbourne, August 16, 2011Wavelink, a value added distributor of business IP, wireless, communication and network security and access solutions has announced the introduction of Digium® Switchvox 5.1, a new version that adds fixed mobile convergence (FMC) and further integration with third-party business applications into its full-featured and cost-effective voice over IP (VoIP) unified communications (UC) solution designed for small- to mid-sized businesses.

The new release enhances Switchvox mobility to allow users to seamlessly integrate any type of phone with Switchvox. Users can select up to six phones of any type, including VoIP, digital, analogue, smartphone or a soft phone, to converge with their Switchvox extension. The user can now route, record or transfer calls appropriately, at any location. Users of Switchvox SMB with active subscriptions can download version 5.1 to have access to these features at no cost.

Switchvox 5.1 is based on Asterisk, the world’s most widely adopted open source communications engine, and brings a new level of features and customisation to IT administrators, users and resellers. Additionally, version 5.1 includes more application programming interfaces (APIs) for greater customisation and integration with third-party business applications, giving businesses the ability to leverage their other IT investments, such as CRM, customer support, accounting and ERP systems. Switchvox 5.1 also features an enhanced user interface, more detailed reporting for calls and call queues, and detailed online support. With all of these features included in each Switchvox SMB unified communications system, customers can realise an average cost savings of up to 60 – 80 percent over comparable VoIP business phone systems.

“Mobile and remote workers need to be just as productive outside the office as they are inside, seamlessly moving between the two,” said Tristan Barnum, product line director for Switchvox at Digium. “Combined with a refreshed user interface that makes management simpler and faster, Switchvox also has a more powerful FMC solution, unlike any on the market. With other UC offerings, this functionality is treated as an add-on, requiring expensive licensing, special hardware and hours of training. With Switchvox, all features are included. Additionally, we’ve created more APIs that allow you the flexibility you need to integrate with the software you already use to drive your business.”

The free Switchvox Mobile application integrates Digium’s Switchvox SMB communications solution with Android as well as iPhone and BlackBerry devices at no extra cost to customers. With the Switchvox Mobile app, Switchvox SMB customers can:

Digium’s Switchvox Mobile Applications boost productivity by bringing key functionality to smartphones

iPhone and BlackBerry applications ensure ongoing connectivity for mobile workforce

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-June 23, 2010 – Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced the availability of Switchvox Mobile applications for iPhone and BlackBerry. The freely downloadable applications integrate with the company’s Switchvox Voice over IP (VoIP) Unified Communications (UC) solution to bring advanced UC functionality to employees even when they are away from the office. For more information, please visit http://www.digium.com/switchvox-mobile.

Switchvox Mobile applications are connected to an employee’s phone extension, so when mobile workers make a business call through Switchvox Mobile, the call appears to be from their work phone, rather than their mobile phone, and billing can be handled like any other call they would make from the office. To place a call using the Switchvox Mobile application, mobile workers can select a name from the company directory, dial the employee’s extension from the keypad, or easily return calls from the Voicemail and Call Log tools.

Switchvox Mobile applications provide key features, such as the ability to control voicemail greetings, access the full company directory, view missed calls, check voicemail, and easily return calls, all from a smartphone. Users can also set call rules while away from the office, ensuring that no matter where they are, they will receive important calls.

“Today’s workplaces are dynamic, with dispersed workforces and employees who are on the move or working in remote locations,” said Tristan Barnum, director of Switchvox product marketing. “These new applications make it easy for employees to use their smartphones to stay connected to the office, which results in better customer service, increased productivity, and more flexibility for employees. We know it’s important to meet the demands of the mobile workforce, and Switchvox Mobile keeps them connected no matter where they choose to work.”

Switchvox is a powerful IP PBX that integrates an easy-to-use web interface with UC features, including fax, chat and video calling. The most recent release of Switchvox enables users to access useful features such as call recording, visual voicemail, a searchable company directory, and call parking lots from either a web interface or desk phone handset. Switchvox Mobile is the next phase of connectivity, and maximizes the value that a company can derive from having a Switchvox phone system.

Availability
Switchvox Mobile for iPhone is free of charge and available now through the iTunes App Store. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

Switchvox Mobile for the BlackBerry is free of charge and available now through BlackBerry App World. It is compatible with the Bold, Curve, Pearl, Storm, and Tour models.

The Switchvox Mobile applications can be used in demo mode, which does not require connectivity to a Switchvox phone system.
