Fortinet appoints Glenn Maiden as director of threat intelligence, FortiGuard Labs Australia and New Zealand

Fortinet has appointed Glenn Maiden as director of threat intelligence at FortiGuard Labs Australia and New Zealand. Glenn’s role will focus on threat intelligence sharing to help Australian and New Zealand organisations protect themselves from current and emerging threats.  

With a strong background in defence, intelligence, security and federal government, Glenn has led a wide variety of cybersecurity activities including penetration testingsystems engineering as well as risk assessments and cyber operations. While in the Australian Intelligence Community (AIC), Glenn supported intelligence collection, processing and reporting.  

Glenn has also held roles with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), where he was the agency’s cybersecurity advisor, and with Lockheed Martin, where he ran cyberoperations for the organisation’s Defence Centralised Processing project. Prior to joining Fortinet, Glenn worked at Cisco, where he ran a national-level program to raise Australia’s overall cyber posture. His focus was on accelerating Australian cybersecurity education and building effective partnerships to realise mutual success.  

At FortiGuard Labs, Glenn will head up threat intelligence operations for Australia and New Zealand. FortiGuard Labs builds the security intelligence that underpins advanced security technologies like artificial intelligence, antivirus, intrusion prevention, and email and web security.

CompTIA announces new Executive Council members for 2020

CompTIA, the leading trade association for the global technology industry, has announced that three new executive council (EC) members have joined its ANZ Channel Community. The newly-elected members, decided on by a vote by CompTIA Premier Members, are:

Channel marketing firm, Outsource, appoints Kit Craig to lead channel consulting and training practice

RSM Bird Cameron announces senior appointments

Wavelink expands team with new technical product specialist

Sydney, July 19, 2010 – Wavelink Communications, a value added distributor of business IP, wireless and communication solutions has appointed Reggie Samuel as technical product specialist.

Reggie brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the wireless space, specifically for the hospitality industry, and in project management.

Based in Wavelink’s Sydney office, Reggie’s experience will further strengthen Wavelink Communications’ ability to deliver wireless LAN and voice solutions via its reseller channel. He will be responsible for providing technical support for Meru Networks enterprise wireless LAN offering, as well as coordinating the implementation of Wavelink’s Polycom KIRK DECT solutions via Telstra IP Telephony (TIPT).

Before joining Wavelink, Reggie was a regional operations manager for iBAHN where he delivered entertainment, communications and Internet solutions to the hospitality and enterprise sectors to companies such as Rio Tinto, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Crown Casino and Rendezvous Hotels Group.

Prior to that, Reggie was a pre-sales and convergence manager at DoCoMo interTouch where he focused on servicing clients from the hospitality sector including the Hyatt, Hilton, Inter-continental, Rydges, Mirvac and Accor Group of Hotels in the South Pacific Region (Australia, New Zealand and Fiji).

Wavelink hires new manager of technology convergence

Sydney, July 6, 2010 – Wavelink Communications, a value added distributor of business IP, wireless and communication solutions has appointed Jacek Kowalski as the manager of technology convergence.

Jacek brings Wavelink Communications more than 25 years of diverse ICT experience. As manager of technology convergence, he will work on expanding product offerings into areas such as network security, network access servers and IPTV solutions, and integrating these new products with the existing wireless solutions offered by Wavelink Communications.

Jacek will also be responsible for expanding Wavelink Communication’s customer base in vertical markets such as hospitality, health care and higher education.

Jacek comes to Wavelink Communications from Docomo Intertouch where he was the director of technology convergence, South Pacific. Prior to working at Docomo, Jacek was the chief technology officer at Azure Wireless, the company taken over by Docomo Intertouch.

Jacek also worked in senior technical management roles at startup companies such as IntelliGuard IT and US-based ApplicationStation, and was a technical consultant for major corporates such as Telstra, ANZ and NAB. He was also a principal consultant for a systems integrator Praxa through which he was involved in the Emport Airborne Network Project at the US-based Primex Aeorospace.

Jacek spent the first 10 years of his professional life in R&D institutions including the Polish Academy of Science, the Teletraffic Research Centre at the University of Adelaide and Telstra Research Laboratories.

Jacek holds an M.Sc. degree from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Warsaw and a Ph.D. degree from the School of Information Science and Technology at the Flinders University of South Australia.
