Konica Minolta Australia announces AccurioPress C14000 series high-volume production presses

Konica Minolta Australia has announced the release of the AccurioPress C14000 series high-volume production presses, which will be available locally early next year. The presses offer higher total productivity and efficiency that will really change the game for commercial printers.

The 140 ppm AccurioPress C14000, along with the 120 ppm AccurioPress C12000, were designed from the ground up to be digital print factories. These presses really demonstrate Konica Minolta’s mission to support the transformation of its clients, with a number of advanced automation features and accessories that will help printers expand and streamline their operations to deliver increased, high-quality output with less waste.

The AccurioPress C14000 series offers the new TU-510 versatile trimmer unit for advanced operational efficiency. The TU-510 is a truly unique inline, four-edge trimmer and creaser that allows full bleed finishing support for banners, booklets, direct mail and a dedicated business card cutting option. In addition, the AccurioPress C14000 series is equipped with the Intelligent Quality Optimiser (IQ-501) as standard, which can also improve labour efficiency by as much as 30 per cent.

Sue Threlfo, general manager, production and industrial print, Konica Minolta Australia, said, “The new AccurioPress C14000 series will be a game-changer for the industry. With the TU-510 inline trimmer unit and advanced automation features designed to maximise efficiency these presses will provide significant value to those in high-volume printing environments where deadlines are tight, quality is key and efficiencies must be gained. We are really looking forward seeing these new presses arrive in Australia early next year.”

Mark Brown, national product marketing manager, Konica Minolta, said “The AccurioPress C14000 series is ideal for helping Australian printers attract and retain new customers, providing exceptional quality output at high speeds. This will let printers be more productive and turn high-quality jobs around faster, delivering an outstanding customer experience.”

Opportunities for business expansion
The unique features of the AccurioPress C14000 series make them ideal for customers looking to increase productivity through efficiencies and speed to grow their business. With resolution equivalent to 3600 x 2400 dpi and enhanced media capability up to 450 gsm, they offer breathtaking speeds with outstanding image quality and unparalleled media flexibility.

New duplex banner printing up to 900 millimetres and simplex banner length capability of 1300 millimetres combined with envelope and embossed media capability gives customers the opportunity to offer new types of work, such as four-panel gatefold brochures and book covers for finishing offline. To further improve efficiency and output, envelope printing can be accomplished using the standard fuser. Finally, new technology used in the print engine dramatically improves image quality on textured paper stocks.

Operational efficiency
Paired with Konica Minolta’s enhanced IQ-501, the new presses automatically and continuously measure and manage colour to ensure the first print in a run matches the last. Two-dimensional registration correction has also been improved through the higher output resolution. The automatic media detection sensor comes standard on these models, detecting the stock and assigning the appropriate tray, eliminating time consuming paper settings and operator error, reducing waste and increasing productivity.

The LS-507 large stacker supports higher speed, permits banner bypass and offers operators the advantage of offloading while the machine is still running, another new benefit added to Konica Minolta’s AccurioPress expanded line.

Convenient colour management and job management utilities are available with the Konica Minolta’s proprietary controller. A customisable operation screen makes the products extremely easy to operate. Other third-party controller options include the latest Fiery and Creo models.

Stability, high durability and reduced downtime improve total cost of ownership
Konica Minolta’s IQ-501 enhanced auto inspection options offer expanded inspection performance, verifying print quality and now detecting streaks and spots as well as blemishes. The high-quality prints mean maximum stability even during long-run jobs, while better registration and quality increases total usable print volume. The new presses offer a highly reliable duty cycle of 2.5 million, up from 1.8 million with the AccurioPress C6100, with double the toner capacity of earlier models.

The new AccurioPress C14000 and C12000 will be available in Australia in March 2020.

Next-generation bizhub i-Series seamlessly connects the dynamic office

Konica Minolta Australia, a leader in delivering world-class business transformation solutions and technologies, has unveiled the new bizhub i-Series, the next generation multifunction device product line from the award-winning bizhub legacy portfolio. Born from the company’s continuing ambition to create value for customers and driven by the desire to rethink the way multifunctional devices work for them, the i-Series is a smart technology hub that fully embraces the way businesses are evolving and sharpens their competitive edge.

The smart device technology augments office connectivity, optimising the way the office works while preparing it to be future-ready from operational improvements to digital transformation. Powering new opportunities for productivity and innovation, the i-Series provides the necessary tools for an effective communications network. It simplifies complexities to improve productivity and streamline business processes, for better decision-making and, ultimately, enable smarter business. Breaking through traditional office limitations, it helps navigate quickly to demands and changing conditions.

Shane Blandford, director of marketing and innovation, Konica Minolta, said, “As office documents become more digitised and data volumes increase, document management and access assume more importance than ever. Remote access and cloud integration also heighten the need for security.

“Multifunctional devices and printers are now expected to connect people, places and devices simply and safely and create a new way of working. Konica Minolta wanted to provide a new-value office tool that could be used intuitively by digital natives. That intent gave rise to the second generation bizhub, the bizhub i-Series. The consistent and simplified usability of the new i-Series range, along with class-leading performance and connectivity enhancements make these our most productive multifunction devices.”

Simple design and usability

The stylish, contemporary design boasts an intuitive smartphone style user interface with a tiltable, floating 10” touchscreen panel, rounded edges, and LED status indicators. The interactive user experience provides ease-of-use through reduced wait times, vibration feedback, and customisation. Conveniently, both the A3 and A4 multifunction models function in precisely the same way so users can be productive, regardless of the specific device.

High-quality performance, enhanced efficiency and seamless connectivity

The i-Series multifunction models house a powerful engine, a quad-core Central Processing Unit with up to 8GB of memory and 256GB SSD, for quick-response, high-performance operations. And, the additional combination of full-speed media printing range, high-speed one pass double feed, digital skew correction, and large capability trays for the A3 models, expertly blends reliable functionality with versatile serviceability. Further extending the capabilities of the i-Series and adding flexibility, Konica Minolta MarketPlace gives the freedom to personalise the user interface and provides direct access to apps that boost business productivity. Efficiently integrating work processes and connections, it caters to all types of changing needs and fully accommodates evolving workstyles.

Smart service and next-level security

Minimising downtime and ensuring uninterrupted use, the i-Series intelligently collects data for self-diagnosis and for optimum replacement time predictions of parts and consumables. The exceptional service comes with an outfitted layer of top-grade security, which gives businesses one less thing to worry about. With bizhub SECURE services (optional) and self-encrypting SSD, the i-Series fosters a secure work ecosystem where data is protected and reliably accessible. Additionally, the optional BitDefender anti-virus extension automatically scans all transmitted and received data in real time, so data remains protected from external threats. All i-Series models are compliant with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and ISO 15408 certified HCD-PP, so data privacy standards and security requirements are met in order to stay productive.

Commitment to sustainability

Konica Minolta is committed not only to innovation but to environmental sustainability. The fruition of the new i-Series reflects upon this strong commitment. As part of the top energy-saving bizhub product line, each model conforms to globally recognised standards from such organisations as EPEAT and Blue Angel. The new fusing unit and low-temperature fixing toner help achieve lower energy consumption in operating and sleep modes. Environmental impact is reduced further through the new packaging design, as traditional cushioning material has been replaced with lighter air cushions, still ensuring safety during transport. Best of all, operating sounds are quieter due to improvements made to the cooling fan and the document feeder mechanism resulting in fewer distractions for a better-focused work environment.

Shane Blandford said, “Konica Minolta recognises the i-Series as the next step; the innovative technology that lets businesses perform at their best and achieve high-quality work, all while providing the peace of mind for them to focus on more important matters. Konica Minolta announces new parental leave policy to encourage fairness and equality for all parents

Konica Minolta Australia, market-leading provider of integrated solutions and managed services, has announced its new parental leave policy aimed at creating a more equal and supportive environment for all parents in the workplace.

The policy takes several steps to achieve gender equality, recognising that both parents have an active and essential role in their children’s early years.

Key features of the policy include:

  • removal of the labels of primary and secondary carer to eliminate stereotypes
  • provision of 12 weeks’ paid parental leave to any parent welcoming a new child into the family, with leave available:
    • until the child’s third birthday; or
    • until the third anniversary of adoption, up to the adopted child’s sixteenth birthday.
  • leave can be taken in any way, or at any time that best suits the family, over the first three years.
  • new leave entitlements are available retrospectively.

David Cooke, managing director – Australia, Konica Minolta, said, “Welcoming a new child into the family is one of the best times of any person’s life, and it is simply unfair for only one parent to have the benefit of 12 weeks paid leave to enjoy this time. We believe that separating parents into primary and secondary categories, which are so often allocated to women and men respectively, not only reinforces entrenched gender roles, but has the knock-on effects of men finding it more difficult to request parental leave, and women being apprehensive about returning to work due to career stagnation.

“Konica Minolta wants to eliminate discrimination and bias wherever possible, and this can be as simple as removing irrelevant titles and offering every employee the same benefits. Making parental leave non-gendered means that every new parent is offered the same opportunities for paid leave.”

Benton Johnson, business analyst, Konica Minolta Australia, said, “As a parent, knowing that I have support to take the time to spend with a newborn and support my partner is priceless. When my son was born I had five weeks off, which at the time was considered by many as a long time. This was a combination of annual and unpaid leave. With my daughter, who is now two, I wasn’t able to take as much time. With this new policy I can now plan some additional time with her. This is a fantastic policy change that will make a real difference for families.”

In September 2019, Konica Minolta Australia also released its 2019 Gender Equality Strategy, aimed at refocusing its commitment to equality in the workplace.

David Cooke said, “As a company that cares deeply about and strives for equality in everything we do, Konica Minolta believes that it’s our duty to adjust and adapt to the changing needs of our employees and the communities in which we operate, and to ensure we remain on the forefront of best practice.

“Our commitment to improving our practice and pushing hard to realise gender equality has resulted in three consecutive Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citations, as well as the 2018 Human Rights in Business Award from the Australian Human Rights Commission. We are extremely proud of, and humbled by, these recognitions, and are motivated to work even harder towards improving practice not only within Konica Minolta but within our industry.”

Imagination Graphics becomes first NSW customer to invest in Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1

Imagination Graphics, a professional printing company based in Marrickville in Sydney’s inner west and Konica Minolta National Specialised Print Awards 2018 winner, is the first NSW customer to invest in the AccurioJet KM-1 from Konica Minolta.

Imagination Graphics provides graphic design, print, and pre-press services to help customers maximise the value of their promotional material. Imagination Graphics focuses on delivering high quality outcomes for a reasonable price. The company was on a solid growth path and had gone from strength-to-strength over the past three years. This made it the right time to invest in new technology to support that growth, and future growth.

The AccurioJet KM-1 is a B2+ sheet-fed UV inkjet press that delivers all the quality and versatility of offset printing with the convenience and flexibility of digital printing on any type of stock for projects such as bound books, presentation folders, and packaging.

Emmanuel Buhagiar, director, Imagination Graphics, said, “This investment was a big step for Imagination Graphics, however, it was the right one. We did our due diligence and had faith that the KM-1 and Konica Minolta, as a trusted partner for more than 10 years, would deliver.

“Imagination Graphics chose the KM-1 due to its ability to print on a wide variety of stocks, which gives us great versatility in the types of work we can take on, as well as the colour and quality reproduction and ability to match Pantone colours.

“The KM-1 will open up a whole new market and client base for Imagination Graphics. It will also give us more speed, faster turnaround, the ability to bring work in-house that we have previously had to outsource, and the opportunity to take on short-run projects, which will make us more competitive. For example, using the KM-1, we can print up to 3,000 A2 posters in an hour, all with different designs, which would be far more costly and time-consuming on an offset press. As a customer-focused business, the ability to deliver on time with quality is critical to our success.”

Adam Todd, industrial print solutions consultant, Konica Minolta, said, “Konica Minolta is excited that Imagination Graphics is the first NSW installation of the game-changing KM-1, and the third in Australia. The KM-1 will open up new markets for Imagination Graphics and let it produce a much wider variety of high-value applications for its customers. We are proud that Imagination Graphics has selected Konica Minolta as its strategic partner for this venture.”

Emmanuel Buhagiar said, “Imagination Graphics has worked with Konica Minolta for more than 10 years, and every time we have upgraded our equipment we have seen business growth right up to our last investment, which was the AccurioPress C6100 and C1085. We expect the KM-1 to bring the same benefit.”

This is the first NSW install for the KM-1, the third in Australia, and the 100th globally since its introduction to the market just over two years ago.

Konica Minolta Australia launches AccurioLabel 230 at PrintEx

Konica Minolta Australia has today launched the AccurioLabel 230 on the opening day of PrintEx 2019 at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. The new label press will target label printers print providers, brand owners and packaging companies.

Tatjana Ferguson, product marketing manager, industrial print, Konica Minolta, said, “This year’s PrintEx is focused on intelligence, ideas, and innovation across signage, display, wide format, labelling and packaging, and more, making it the perfect setting to launch the AccurioLabel 230 to the local market. The new label press is an easy and accessible way for printing businesses to expand into digital label printing, and perfectly complements existing analogue technology.”

The new label press has been built on Konica Minolta’s highly acclaimed AccurioPress engine technology, which is valued for its exceptional print quality and substrate compatibility. The AccurioLabel 230 is the successor product to the AccurioLabel 190 which has had great success since its launch in 2016, with over 400 units sold globally.

The AccurioLabel 230 offers additional features and enhancements and is suited to customers and prospects looking for added capability or moving into digital production wanting the technology’s productivity, stability, and features that fuel critical thinking around business applications and profitability.

Konica Minolta’s AccurioLabel 230 features include:

  • Speed. The new label press will run at a faster speed of 23.4 metres/minute, and print 1000m continuously. The press takes approximately half the amount of time as regular label presses to print four 300m jobs.
  • Quality. Based on the AccurioPress engine, the AccurioLabel 230 will provide high quality print jobs across digital production, with substrate handling components.
  • No warm-up time. The label press’s fuser will be kept warm for up to 30 minutes between jobs, meaning printers can eliminate time required for warm-ups prior to printing. This also helps reduce waste.
  • Overprinting. It can overprint on pre-printed media, for example overprinting of flexo white pre-printed on clear PP labels.
  • Better registration. An inbuilt speed detector for media feeding also helps printers further reduce paper waste.

Tatjana Ferguson said, “The AccurioLabel 230 is a significant milestone in Konica Minolta’s four-year presence in the label market. Developed with customer demand in mind, the label press is set to offer customers major benefits in label printing and design.”

Based in Sydney, PrintEx showcases Australia’s latest and greatest in print technology and development, with a particular focus on innovation and education. An estimated 8,000 industry professionals, buyers, and suppliers are expected to attend the event.

Konica Minolta Australia is extending its existing partnership with HP to include reselling its wide format printer range, the HP Latex Production Printers and Print and Cut solution up to 1.63 metre roll widths, in the Australian market.

Ben Darling appointment boosts Konica Minolta Australia’s 3D printing expansion

Konica Minolta Logo Konica Minolta Business Solutions Australia has appointed 3D printing expert Ben Darling to the role of 3D Printing and Wide Format Sales Specialist for Australia’s southern region. His appointment will help drive the expansion of its rapidly-growing 3D printing business in the local market.

With a background in 3D printing that spans half a decade, Ben brings a wealth of knowledge to Konica Minolta’s 3D printing business. In his new role, he will help meet the needs of Konica Minolta’s 3D printing customers in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.

Ben Darling explained, “As the Additive Manufacturing industry continues to use 3D printing for production of end use parts, especially in the areas of medical and low volume high value manufacturing, 3D printers are increasingly becoming a mission critical part of organisations that have invested in the technology. This means that service response times have never been more important to the success of our customers. With a national footprint of service technicians Konica Minolta is able to maintain a minimum response to have a technician onsite.
