Spectralink refreshes DECT handset portfolio of WorkSmart products

Wavelink LogoSeptember 8, 2015 — Spectralink Corporation (“Spectralink”), a global leader in wireless solutions for the workplace, has has announced a refresh of its 7000 Portfolio of DECT handsets, along with the addition of new models to the series to even better meet end user needs.

In today’s connected world, organisations are increasingly looking for devices that offer flexible mobility alongside the secure reliability required for the workplace. Designed with reliability and durability in mind, the Spectralink 7000 Portfolio handsets are built to address these challenges. They cater especially to usage within demanding workplace environments like those of the retail, manufacturing and healthcare sectors.

Spectralink will be rolling out upgrades to its 7000 Portfolio of handsets over the course of the remainder of the year, with updates to the functionality, design and usability of the devices.

“The latest refresh of Spectralink’s DECT portfolio demonstrates our continued dedication to solving the growing demand for workplace mobility and communications,” said Dan Mondor, CEO, Spectralink Corporation. “By adding new functionality to the DECT handsets, staff can be more efficient while also ensuring they operate safely in the most demanding workplace environments.”

The first of these updates is the 7522 DECT handset, which maintains the form factor’s elegant yet robust existing feature set, including a large colour display and intuitive menu structure, while also providing support for Software Updates over the Air (SUOTA). This means that device software can be updated quickly and easily from a central location over the air, rather than having each handset manually updated. The Spectralink 7522 is now available in Australia and New Zealand.

Going forward, Spectralink will be implementing further upgrades to the handset portfolio. The changes will bring newer industrial design, features and technology to the devices, while retaining the robust long-term dependability catering to harsh environments.

Built for users with a focus on usability, functionality, design and quality, the Spectralink 7000 Portfolio handsets consist of a wide range of reliable and durable models. They are specialised for use in environments from general office applications to intrinsically safe surroundings. Additionally, the handsets support integration with third-party applications to maximise their performance in manufacturing and healthcare environments. All Spectralink 7000 Portfolio handsets are interoperable allowing for deployments with a mix of handsets.

Spectralink grows with demand for enterprise-grade Voice over Wi-Fi devices

Wavelink LogoOctober 3, 2014 — Spectralink Corporation (“Spectralink”), a global leader in wireless solutions for the workplace, has seen an increase in market share within the company’s Wi-Fi sales of 10 percentage points over the last three quarters, according to a new report by market research firm, Infonetics.

This success follows the launch of PIVOT™ by Spectralink earlier this year. PIVOT is the first purpose-built mobile handset to combine the usability of consumer smartphone-like features with the quality, durability and reliability essential for in-building mobile employees to improve workplace communication.

Since launching PIVOT in February this year, Spectralink is working with partners on more than 80 deployments across the world. As the specialist in mobile communications solutions for the workplace, Spectralink has established itself as a leading provider of mobile devices for the healthcare, retail and manufacturing sectors. It now counts 33 partners, and growing, in its exclusive AIMS (Application Integration and Management Solvers) partner network, and continues to dominate the sector with its innovative and industry-leading WorkSmart solutions.

PIVOT’s success since its launch is further evidence that the BYOD trend is not appropriate in many industries. Consumer devices, unlike purpose-built devices, cannot meet the various needs of security, durability, reliability and total cost of ownership in specific sectors.

“We have spent the past seven months building on the success of PIVOT and improving its features following customer feedback, and are now on version 3.0 of our principal product,” said Sten Dyrmose, CEO of Spectralink. “The feedback we’ve received, along with our vigorous testing in real-life situations, has resulted in a more mature product. PIVOT provides a stable platform to support the fundamental requirements of mobile employees in environments such as healthcare, retail and manufacturing.”

Dyrmose added, “Our focus is solely on purpose-built devices. We are specialists in this field and we are leaders because of this. We work with our ecosystem of partners to ensure that our devices combine the best-in-breed solutions from across the market for true interoperability and unrivalled performance.”

Built on the industry-standard Android™ operating system, PIVOT is instantly familiar out-of-the-box, including intuitive smartphone-like usability and access to applications. Spectralink prides itself on its industry leading technologies and the recent upgrade to Android™ KitKat ensures that PIVOT is current for today’s business user.

PIVOT is available in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand with the list price starting at US $895. PIVOT is part of the 87-Series Voice over Wi-Fi handset family, and is available through an exclusive set of reseller partners.

Yesterday, Spectralink announced a strategic partnership with Voalte and named Voalte a reseller of PIVOT. Click here for more information on the Voalte news and for more details on PIVOT visit www.spectralink.com/PIVOT.

Spectralink IP-DECT Server 400 and 6500 and Wi-Fi 84-Series wireless solutions qualified for Microsoft® Lync® 2013

Wavelink LogoNovember 21, 2013 — Spectralink Corporation (Spectralink), a global leader in wireless solutions for the workplace, is the first company to offer enterprise wireless IP communication solutions that have been qualified for Microsoft® Lync® 2013. The qualification applies to the DECT product line, with the Spectralink IP-DECT Server 400 and 6500 and handsets, as well as the 84-Series Wi-Fi handsets.  Additionally, Spectralink achieved its status as a Microsoft Gold Communications Partner.

Lync – Microsoft’s industry leading unified communications system – has firmly established itself as a leader in Unified Communications market in the 2013 Gartner Magic Quadrant. Spectralink’s mobile devices are the only in-building wireless solutions to be tested and approved by Microsoft for use with Lync. This qualification gives Spectralink a unique advantage in the market, enabling it to extend its sales reach and assure customers and prospects of the quality and compatibility of its solutions.

“At Spectralink we are committed to providing customers with in-building solutions that work with a wide range of market leading Unified Communications (UC) systems, and therefore we’re excited to achieve Gold Communications competency partner status with Microsoft,” said Sten Dyrmose, CEO at Spectralink.

“The launch of Lync 2013, and the integration opportunities presented by the acquisition of Skype has solidified Microsoft’s status as one of the leading enterprise voice providers worldwide. Many businesses, both large and small are looking to Lync as an integral part of their UC roadmap and it’s essential that our products can support that move.”

The Spectralink IP-DECT Server 400 and 6500 and handsets, as well as the 84-Series Wi-Fi handsets that have been qualified on Lync 2013 are directly interoperable with Microsoft Lync, eliminating the need for a gateway between the technologies. Direct integration reduces both the complexity of implementation and the associated cost of hardware and support services.

Using Spectralink’s purpose-built wireless devices, businesses can combine Microsoft Lync with applications and tools customised for specialised working environments such as healthcare, manufacturing and retail.

Spectralink is already working on a number of Lync implementations, including its deployment at L’Occitane Group and La Francaise Group.

Spectralink launches solutions for nurse safety

March 5, 2013 – Spectralink Corporation (“Spectralink”), a global leader in wireless solutions for the workplace, has announced the Spectralink Staff Safety Solution, developed to help solve the ever-increasing issue of safety in the workplace for nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The Spectralink Staff Safety Solution integrates into the hospital’s existing mobile communications infrastructure, and detects a variety of situations that may indicate that a nurse is in danger or in need of assistance. This customised solution can range from a user-initiated call for help to automatic alarms and notifications when a nurse has fallen, is running, or incapacitated in some way.

“It is surprising to many people that the healthcare field can be a dangerous work environment, particularly the overnight shift in the ER or work in a psychiatric facility. “Being in an overnight shift at a hospital can be scary at times,” said Jaime Dibrowa, nurse ambassador for Spectralink. “Having this product in my hand would give me peace of mind that I could get help if needed.”

Polycom launches Polycom® SpectraLink® 8452, the first enterprise-grade voice-over Wi-Fi handset with integrated 2D barcode scanner

Wavelink LogoJanuary 30, 2012Wavelink, distributors of Polycom’s voice communications solutions, has announced the availability of the Polycom® SpectraLink® 8452, the first enterprise-grade voice-over Wi-Fi handset with an integrated 2D barcode scanner.

The handset combines a mobile phone, pager, push-to-talk functionality, barcode scanner and access to Web-based applications in a single lightweight device.

As an easy-to-use, multi-function solution, the SpectraLink 8452 improves workplace efficiency by letting workers communicate and access data in a variety of ways from anywhere within the enterprise Wi-Fi network.

The barcode scanner in the Polycom SpectraLink 8452 handset has the capability to read both 1D and 2D barcode images in hundredths of a second from a scanning distance of up to 86.36 centimetres (34 inches) and from a wide range of horizontal and vertical scan angles.

The handset also features the legendary Polycom HD Voice™ sound quality for natural, crystal-clear conversations, a large colour display with a simple and intuitive user interface, enterprise-grade durability, simple provisioning and management and support for accessories such as battery packs and headsets.

The Polycom SpectraLink 8452 handset is in the process of qualification to display and share call and directory information via Microsoft® Lync™, which includes features such as presence and instant message information.

For long-term investment protection, the Polycom SpectraLink 8452 is the first enterprise-grade voice-over Wi-Fi handset to combine barcode scanning, web-based application integration with support for latest IEEE Wi-Fi standard (802.11n), and offers best-in-class warranty, maintenance and service offerings.

Sten Dyrmose, general manager, wireless solutions, Polycom, said,  “The award-winning Polycom SpectraLink 8400 series, including the new 8452 phone, improves productivity and responsiveness of workers and meets the critical communication needs in rigorous environments such as hospitals, retail stores, factory floors and hotels.

“The multiple benefits of the handset also extend to the bottom line, delivering up to 40 per cent lower total cost of ownership than competing solutions.”

With the capability to encode about 65 times more data than 1D barcodes into a physically smaller label, 2D barcodes are quickly gaining popularity in the enterprise. This is especially true for industries where work is highly mobile and employees need instant access to data from the network in order to do their jobs. By integrating 2D barcode scanning technology in an enterprise-grade, durable handheld communications device, Polycom solves these challenges across a number of industry use cases, such as:
* healthcare, where clinical staff can increase patient safety by scanning barcodes on wristbands to obtain medical records and verify patient medication
* retail, where staff can offer better customer service by scanning barcodes for product inventory checks while interfacing with customers on the sales floor
* industrial manufacturing, where manufacturers scan barcodes to track parts and products through the supply chain.

The SpectraLink 8452 is available now. For more information, visit the product series page at www.polycom.com/sl8400.
