Digium announces next-generation Switchvox business phone system for on-premises deployments

Switchvox 6 Delivers Higher Performance; Achieves VMware Ready™ Status

Wavelink LogoMarch 2, 2016Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, has announced the release of Switchvox 6, the latest version of its award-winning business phone system. Switchvox 6, available for on-premises deployments, delivers more efficient call handling, improved performance and an enhanced user experience. In addition, having undergone detailed test procedures, it has achieved VMware Ready™ status and is supported on VMware vSphere® signifying it can be deployed in production with confidence. Combining the most advanced version of Switchvox with VMware’s disaster recovery capabilities and scalability, Switchvox 6 provides small and medium-size businesses with an enterprise-class unified communications experience at a fraction of the cost.

Benefits of VMware include its high scalability, as well as its disaster recovery tools. Administrators can adjust system resources on the fly allowing a Switchvox 6 phone system to grow along with the organisation. Companies can also use snapshots to ensure more efficient backup and restoring, as well as deploy enterprise-level failover by combining Switchvox with VMware vSphere High Availability (HA).

“At Digium, we strive to offer our customers tools to empower their communications,” said Adam Kramer, product manager for Switchvox. “The release of Switchvox 6 marks a milestone in the evolution of Switchvox by leveraging the capabilities in the latest version of Asterisk and the ongoing contributions of the Asterisk community to introduce new, powerful features. Switchvox 6 enables the use of a new, real-time engine that opens the door to more advanced integrations such as Salesforce.com and other CRM tools.”

Switchvox 6 is built on Asterisk 13, the most advanced open source communications platform, allowing for improved performance and more effective call handling. As part of the latest release, the newly redesigned Switchboard provides a real-time view into call detail and analytics that help businesses make better decisions and improve their overall customer experience. Switchvox 6 also introduces a new and improved integration for Salesforce.com using the OpenCTI standard. This integration instantly delivers valuable customer information and easy access to Salesforce.com functions upon incoming calls.

Whether businesses choose Digium’s hosted Switchvox Cloud service or want to deploy Switchvox on-premises with a Switchvox Appliance or VMware, customers are able to run the same software with all features included. Switchvox can be found within the online VMware Solution Exchange (VSX) at https://solutionexchange.vmware.com/store/products/switchvox-for-vmware and supports vSphere 5.0 and above.

Digium’s Switchvox 6 is generally available for Switchvox Cloud and Switchvox on-premises deployments.
