Wavelink announces the addition of fixed mobile convergence to Digium Switchvox’s award-winning unified communications solution

Melbourne, August 16, 2011Wavelink, a value added distributor of business IP, wireless, communication and network security and access solutions has announced the introduction of Digium® Switchvox 5.1, a new version that adds fixed mobile convergence (FMC) and further integration with third-party business applications into its full-featured and cost-effective voice over IP (VoIP) unified communications (UC) solution designed for small- to mid-sized businesses.

The new release enhances Switchvox mobility to allow users to seamlessly integrate any type of phone with Switchvox. Users can select up to six phones of any type, including VoIP, digital, analogue, smartphone or a soft phone, to converge with their Switchvox extension. The user can now route, record or transfer calls appropriately, at any location. Users of Switchvox SMB with active subscriptions can download version 5.1 to have access to these features at no cost.

Switchvox 5.1 is based on Asterisk, the world’s most widely adopted open source communications engine, and brings a new level of features and customisation to IT administrators, users and resellers. Additionally, version 5.1 includes more application programming interfaces (APIs) for greater customisation and integration with third-party business applications, giving businesses the ability to leverage their other IT investments, such as CRM, customer support, accounting and ERP systems. Switchvox 5.1 also features an enhanced user interface, more detailed reporting for calls and call queues, and detailed online support. With all of these features included in each Switchvox SMB unified communications system, customers can realise an average cost savings of up to 60 – 80 percent over comparable VoIP business phone systems.

“Mobile and remote workers need to be just as productive outside the office as they are inside, seamlessly moving between the two,” said Tristan Barnum, product line director for Switchvox at Digium. “Combined with a refreshed user interface that makes management simpler and faster, Switchvox also has a more powerful FMC solution, unlike any on the market. With other UC offerings, this functionality is treated as an add-on, requiring expensive licensing, special hardware and hours of training. With Switchvox, all features are included. Additionally, we’ve created more APIs that allow you the flexibility you need to integrate with the software you already use to drive your business.”

The free Switchvox Mobile application integrates Digium’s Switchvox SMB communications solution with Android as well as iPhone and BlackBerry devices at no extra cost to customers. With the Switchvox Mobile app, Switchvox SMB customers can:
* make, receive, transfer and record calls as if they were calling from the office extension
* check their call history
* view and change call rules, such as routing and forwarding
* change their out-of-office greeting
* access the company directory and return calls via email
* use the Switchvox app from their Android-based tablet to perform tasks such as returning voice messages using email.

The key Switchvox 5.1 UC features include:
* Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) – Built-in integration for six phones, allowing for seamless transfers and recording from any phone. Find out more: http://www.digium.com/mobility
* Detailed Call Queue Reports and Logs – Granular call queue data for multiple queues and queue members.
* Additional Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) – Organisations can create custom integrations with third-party business applications for communications-enabledbusiness processes (CEBP). See a complete list: http://www.digium.com/switchvox/api
* Switchvox Graphical User Interface (GUI) – A newly refreshed Switchvox GUI simplifies the configuration for groups of users for administrators and users. See these and more features: http://www.digium.com/switchvox-features

“We are excited about many aspects of Switchvox 5.1, from its new graphical user interface-a significant and pleasant redesign that users will embrace-to the improved call queue reporting and ability to make group changes to users on the system,” said Jonathan Rusk, president of Chromis Technology, a telecommunications networking consultant and vendor. “We believe that the updated GUI and fixed mobile convergence will bring additional sales opportunities and increase our competitive edge.”

Sydney, April 28, 2010 – Digium® Inc., the Asterisk® Company, announced that CRN Magazine, a part of the Everything Channel, has recognised its Switchvox® SMB AA355 Voice over IP (VoIP) unified communications (UC) solution as a Top Midmarket Product.

The Top Midmarket Product winners were selected through a nomination process from Everything Channel editorial, solution providers and chief information officers (CIOs) of midsize companies. The groups collectively nominated more than 10 products per category based on how well their technology fits a midsize enterprise, customer service and the technology vendor’s commitment to solution providers serving midmarket customers. For each category, a subset of the nominating group selected the winner and runner-up. All the winning products were approved by Everything Channel editorial.

The Switchvox SMB 355 is a rack mountable unified communications solution that gives small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) the ability to improve office communications at a price they can afford. It is designed for medium to large businesses that want an affordable, high performance, full featured IP PBX that supports 400 users and up to 75 concurrent calls. “At Digium, we do most of our business through the channel, so recognition for one of our core products from Everything Channel is important to us,” said Danny Windham, CEO of Digium. “We believe this award acknowledges the combined success of Digium and our hundreds of partners. Wavelink Releases Digium Switchvox SMB 4.5

Sydney, 27 January, 2010 – Wavelink Communications, a value added distributor of IP, wireless and communication solutions has announced the release of Digium Switchvox® SMB 4.5, a powerful new version of Switchvox, the full-featured and cost-effective Voice over IP (VoIP) Unified Communications (UC) solution designed for small- to mid-sized businesses. Switchvox SMB 4.5 delivers mission-critical applications traditionally accessed through the web interface directly to phone handsets, and adds greater flexibility and control for both users and administrators.

Based on Digium’s Asterisk, the world’s most popular open source telephony engine, Switchvox SMB is a powerful IP PBX that integrates an easy-to-use web interface with innovative UC features such as fax, chat and video calling. The introduction of Switchvox 4.5 and new Phone Feature Packs extend the power of the Switchvox to Polycom phone handsets for maximum control of the communications system.

Features that were previously only available through the web interface are now made available through Phone Feature Packs to these phone handset displays. This enables users to access powerful features from the phone handsets, such as call recording, visual voicemail, a searchable company directory and call parking lots.

New options for more fundamental phone functions, such as hands free click-to-call dialling, distinctive ringtones for different types of calls, extension failover to a backup Switchvox SMB server, and support for multiple extensions on a single handset, are also available in version 4.5.

“Switchvox is designed for businesses that want a cost-effective phone system that goes beyond the functionality of a typical PBX,” said Tristan Barnum, director of Switchvox product marketing for Digium. “Switchvox SMB’s tight integration with web applications and back-office software gives businesses an unprecedented level of productivity, while features like VoIP, chat and video calls provide flexibility and profound cost savings. Today, with the introduction of version 4.5, we’re extending the most popular functionality of Switchvox to the feature rich Polycom handsets, where they can be accessed intuitively.”

Patrick Ferriter, senior director of product management at Polycom said, “The release of Switchvox SMB 4.5 makes the level of UC integration with Polycom handsets one of the deepest of any manufacturer in the industry.

“Digium has interoperability with a broad set of IP devices among our partners, and their family of Switchvox solutions has provisioning, management and powerful applications tightly integrated for Polycom SoundPoint® IP desktop, VVX™ 1500 business media and SoundStation® IP conference phones.”

Switchvox SMB 4.5 offers additional features to support users and administrators including:
– User profiles—Caller profile information such as photo, extension, title and location. This appears on the Switchboard and on the display of Polycom phones with Phone Feature Packs on internal calls.

– Flexible language support—The Switchvox 4.5 GUI, manual and online help are available in English, UK English, Italian, Castilian Spanish and Latin American Spanish. Sound packs, which include all the audio prompts used in the system, are available for these languages, as well as Australian English, French and French Canadian. For businesses with international offices, users can customize their language settings to best complement their location and language preference.

– Comprehensive monitoring—Digium has implemented the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for Switchvox 4.5, which gives administrators the ability to collect real time data about the status and health of their systems.

Pricing and Availability
Switchvox SMB 4.5 is available now free of charge to customers with a current Switchvox SMB software subscription. Customers can continue using Switchvox 4.0 or implement the optional upgrade to 4.5 with a single click.
