Y Soft brings in industry veterans to spearhead growth

After releasing record fiscal year results, Y Soft Corporation announced that it is adding two industry veterans to help continue its strong global sales growth.

Document and Imaging management industry veteran Barry Löwer has been tapped as the new Chief Sales Officer (CSO). In this position, Löwer will be responsible for planning and coordinating Y Soft’s sales and business development activities across the entire Y Soft product portfolio, as well as helping lead Y Soft’s growth trajectory.

Before joining Y Soft, Löwer spent two years running international customer success and advocacy for Nuance Communications’ Imaging Division, later Kofax, which acquired the division in 2018. In the seven years before Nuance Communications, Löwer overlooked EMEA sales for its Imaging Division. Before that, Löwer spent time at Equitrac Corporation, where he established its presence in the EMEA region and led its revenue-generating activities and expansion.

Y Soft recently announced that its IOTA Hardware division, which produces card readers, 3D printers, external terminals, and edge devices, had increased its percentage of overall sales to 21 per cent. Due to this growth, Ondřej Župka was hired for the newly created role of Vice President of Manufacturing to lead Y Soft’s growing manufacturing operations and strategy.

Župka brings 18 years of large-scale manufacturing experience with companies such as TE Connectivity, Honeywell, Celestica, and Flextronics. He is tasked with scaling Y Soft manufacturing for future growth by increasing automation, standardising quality management, optimising production planning, and further developing the manufacturing for startups from the Y Soft Ventures portfolio.

Y Soft has record fiscal year 2019 results

— Significant customer growth validates the company’s strategy —

Y Soft® Corporation has released selected financial results for fiscal year (FY) 2019. Sales volume for FY2019 increased 13 per cent (US currency) reaching a record USD$47 million. It’s flagship product, YSoft SafeQ®, is now used globally by 20,000 enterprise customers, a 20 per cent increase from FY2018.

YSoft SafeQ is a key product in the YSoft Workflow Solutions Platform, an integrated platform that offers businesses a scalable infrastructure and modular feature sets including print management, document capture and 3D print management.

The growth in customers is also evident in the number of Global Fortune 500 customers who are using YSoft SafeQ in their business. In FY2019, 42 per cent of the Global Fortune 500 use YSoft SafeQ compared to 34 per cent in FY2018.

The company differentiates itself in many ways including through its customer first approach, providing excellent support and service, and by providing complementary hardware solutions. The sales volume comprised of software (27%), professional services (49%), hardware (21%) and subscriptions (3%). Subscriptions give customers the option to licence YSoft SafeQ as a service instead of purchasing traditional licences.

Other notable FY2019 achievements included:

  • expansion of embedded software support for HP® and Brother® devices
  • significant customer growth achieved without any outside financial assistance
  • an increase in customers using YSoft SafeQ in the cloud. Small and medium-sized businesses prefer cloud-first print management with edge computing

Sydney, AUSTRALIA – Y Soft Corporation has released the findings of a global, independent survey that explored the cloud and cloud-based print management preferences of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

The report, Cloud Print Management, is based on a survey of technology decision makers regarding their use of cloud technology today, their concerns and preferences for using cloud technology in general, and specifically for print management services. Additionally, their knowledge, use and preference for edge computing was of interest.

As a leader in enterprise workflow solutions for print management and document capture, Y Soft wanted to study SMB’s preference and concern for adopting cloud and edge technology. Y Soft has been a provider of edge technology for use in large enterprises since 2008 and its use in SMB could be equally beneficial, Y Soft hypothesised.

The survey results provided many interesting insights on SMB technology use and preferences. Highlights include:

  • Public cloud application use is ubiquitous – 93 per cent (85 per cent in Australia) of SMBs use public cloud applications, typically Microsoft Office 365 or similar
  • 50 per cent (45 per cent in Australia) of SMBs have a cloud-first preference and 10 per cent (6 per cent in Australia) will only use cloud applications
  • Security is a concern for SMBs across all applications; 52 per cent (48 per cent in Australia) cited security as a top concern whereas 61 per cent (57 per cent in Australia) cited it as a top concern for cloud-based print management

However, mid-sized companies, U.S.-based companies and companies with more than 50 printers, are the most bullish on cloud-based print management. Over all respondents, 29 per cent (28 per cent in Australia) are planning to purchase cloud-based print management services within the next 12 months.

  • 35 per cent (26 per cent in Australia) of SMBs already use edge computing and 56 per cent (55 per cent in Australia) prefer cloud print management services used with an edge device in place.

The edge device as described in the survey would enable print jobs to be processed locally on the company’s network. Considering SMB’s concern for cloud-based print management security, (61 per cent global, 57 per cent in Australia), this indicates that the additional security peace of mind that comes with edge computing and its other benefits are desired.

“As we speak to customers and partners and study market trends, SMB’s existing use and preference for edge computing as part of cloud-based print services, confirms our belief that edge devices have an extremely important role,” said Ondřej Krajíček, Y Soft Chief Technology Strategist. “Unlike their enterprise counterparts, SMB’s appetite for a cloud-first approach is much larger. We believe, however, that this will change, and organisations of all sizes will demand cloud-first for all services, including print management,” he added.

Migration to cloud applications has been very successful, in fact, too successful. Due to latency, bandwidth and locations where Internet connection is slow or unreliable, processing data closer to where the data lives using edge computing is now a matter of need. In the case of print, by processing the job locally on the company’s network, the company has extra peace of mind for their security and privacy concerns. The results of the survey indicate this need is well understood within SMB.

Macquarie University chooses Y Soft and Konica Minolta to manage print services

Sydney, Australia – Y Soft and Konica Minolta today announced Macquarie University has chosen YSoft SafeQ and Konica Minolta’s managed print services to manage 240 devices across Macquarie University, servicing 60,000 students. The solution is delivered entirely on an Amazon Web Services (AWS) private cloud. 

Moving managed print services to the cloud helps reduce server and maintenance costs. YSoft SafeQ’s full print management features include pull-printing, automated scan workflows, and copy and fax services. The easy-to-use online dashboard makes it simple for administrators to manage the print fleet and monitor printing activity. Customers can also export reporting data directly into business intelligence applications for further analysis using Y Soft-provided templates.

Konica Minolta provides Macquarie University’s 240 printers and multifunction devices with YSoft SafeQ as the print management and document management software.

Y Soft announces 45 per cent sales growth in FY2018

Sydney, Australia – Y Soft® Corporation, a leading enterprise office solution provider, today has announced that its sales volume for fiscal year 2018 (July 2017 to June 2018) grew by 45 per cent over fiscal year 2017 to (USD) 45 million, nearly 1 Billion in Czech Crowns, attributed in part to its multi-product platform strategy and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) pricing model.

Y Soft announced the general availability of YSoft SafeQ 6 as a platform in fiscal year 2017. The platform extended the YSoft SafeQ core product, print management, and included new product capabilities including automated scan workflows and 3D print management, the latter bundled with a 3D printer. Now, in fiscal year 2018, document capture capabilities accounted for 5 per cent of the company’s total fiscal year sales volume representing 15 per cent of the total sales volume growth.  The company’s decision to be the first on the market to offer both software and support services as a subscription also had an impact. Fiscal year 2018 saw an increase of closed subscription sales contract volume of 400 per cent over fiscal year 2017.

Sales of YSoft SafeQ 6 overall had an impact as current customers upgraded to the new version and the total number of customers increased to 16,000 from 15,000. The ability of YSoft SafeQ to meet the scalability needs and global requirements of large enterprises is indicated by the growth in the number of customers Y Soft counts on the Global Fortune 500 list; 34 per cent in fiscal year 2018 compared to 31 per cent last fiscal year.

The company’s sales volumes are comprised of software (31%); support/professional services (40%); and hardware, including companion products for YSoft SafeQ – external terminals, card readers and 3D printers (21%). Subscription contracts, which include software and support, were 8 per cent of total sales volume.

Y Soft is committed to supporting its channel partners and throughout the growth, partner satisfaction remained at a high 98 per cent satisfaction level. Additionally, in late fiscal year 2017, Y Soft expanded its manufacturing capabilities and expanded into China in anticipation of growth. In fiscal year 2018, Y Soft expanded its embedded terminal support with Epson, laid the groundwork for new areas of growth by expanding the board with two new positions, a seasoned CFO and a Senior Vice President of Finance.
