YSoft SAFEQ now supports Universal Print from Microsoft

— YSoft SAFEQ Cloud and on-prem family of solutions provides seamless and feature-rich print management with advanced Universal Print integration technology —

Y Soft, the leading enterprise workflow solutions provider has announced that the YSoft SAFEQ Cloud™ family (YSoft SAFEQ CloudPro™ and YSoft SAFEQ Breeze™) of print management services are fully integrated with Universal Print. YSoft SAFEQ, which provides on-premise print management services, is also fully integrated.

Universal Print, developed by Microsoft, moves key Windows Server print functionality to the Microsoft 365 cloud. Before Universal Print, customers had to deploy complicated and unreliable print driver management tools. Instead of working with a “one print queue” approach, users had to be mindful of which specific print queue to use, depending on locality, application, or document type.

“Integration with Universal Print will continue to ensure print services run smoothly and reliably across all your printers,” said Wouter Koelewijn, Chief Product Officer, Y Soft. “Our Universal Print integration technology supports cloud management, easy and secure device enrolment, and is designed for a zero-trust security environment.”

Organisations no longer need on-premise print servers to manage print queues and print drivers, a long-standing burden on IT resources. And customers who want to deploy new cloud-native print management and enterprise workflows or migrate their existing print management solution to the cloud now have a way how to do it — seamlessly, step by step, to ensure the uninterrupted operation of business-critical applications.

Through its technology partnership with Microsoft, Y Soft has developed a unique offer, which fully supports and integrates all Universal Print features and abilities and builds on standards, such as IPP Everywhere and Microsoft Graph API. Having integrated robustness and availability features, such as failover and active-active load balancing, it provides additional value add for customers and enables business-critical deployments of Universal Print.

Universal Print integrated with YSoft SAFEQ enhances the existing solution, while keeping all the benefits customers already expect from SAFEQ such as:

  • multi-vendor and multi-platform capability
  • support for cloud, on-premise, edge, or hybrid deployments
  • multi-platform cloud printing support for Windows (with or without Universal Print), Linux, Unix, MacOS, and Chrome OS

For customers, who don’t want to increase their IT overhead and budget, YSoft SAFEQ with Universal Print delivers a client-less operation on all of these platforms. No client software package, big or small, needs to be deployed and managed, resulting in substantial IT operations cost savings and eliminating negative impact on IT compliance and security.

YSoft OMNI Series instantly and securely connects printers to Universal Print from Microsoft

New cloud/edge solution cost-effectively enhances Universal Print from Microsoft –

Y Soft, the leading enterprise workflow solutions provider, has announced a new cloud/edge computing product family, YSoft OMNI Series™, which consists of YSoft OMNI Bridge™, and YSoft OMNI Apps™, of which YSoft OMNI UP365™ is the first app to be introduced. With OMNI Bridge and OMNI UP365, any in-market network printer or multifunction device (MFD) is instantly and cost-effectively Universal Print compatible without needing a full print management system.

Universal Print, developed by Microsoft, moves key Windows Server print functionality to the Microsoft 365 cloud. Organisations no longer need on-premise print servers or need to manage printer drivers, a long-standing burden on IT resources.

Due to a lack of Universal Print-enabled printers on the market, Microsoft provides connector software. However, the connector software requires a Windows 10 or Windows Server machine (physical or virtual). This Windows machine needs to be maintained, which increases IT burden. Additionally, it also presents a single point of failure, a concern when printing is part of business-critical processes.

With YSoft OMNI Bridge and YSoft OMNI UP365, any in-market MFD or network printer is instantly Universal Print compatible without requiring a local or remote Windows 10 or Windows Server machine. OMNI Series eliminates the need to manage printer drivers and install printers and print queues on Windows servers or workstations. It also allows for zero infrastructure, zero-trust network security, and zero IT know-how; printing is simply available to users in seconds.

Today, the YSoft OMNI Series offers these enhanced features for instant Microsoft 365 cloud connectivity and Universal Print compatibility:

  • YSoft OMNI Bridge, a serverless edge device, connects networked printers to the cloud. Combining two or more YSoft OMNI Bridge devices into a group enhances the business value by providing failover and load balancing when high availability for print services is required.
  • YSoft OMNI UP365 instantly connects current in-market printers to Microsoft 365 via Universal Print. An OMNI UP365 subscription can be purchased for one, five, or 25 printers. OMNI UP365 is built on Y Soft’s advanced Universal Print integration, which provides unique benefits such as failover and load balancing for increased resiliency.

YSoft OMNI Bridge is extensible with future YSoft OMNI Apps for incremental connectivity and additional printing and print fleet functionality for businesses of any size.

“Many customers told us they want to move print functionality to the cloud as they are migrating to Microsoft 365. They can now do that with Universal Print, but don’t want to replace all their printers and MFDs with devices that support Universal Print natively. YSoft OMNI Series provides these organisations with an elegant solution to take advantage of cloud-based print infrastructure today,” said Rani Abdellatif, Sr. Program Manager in charge of Universal Print connector technology at Microsoft.

“As a YSoft SAFEQ print management customer, Microsoft is uniquely aware of our technology capabilities. When they challenged us to create a solution that enabled in-market devices to be instantly Universal Print compatible, we saw a unique opportunity,” said Václav Muchna, CEO and co-founder, Y Soft. “The result is YSoft OMNI Series, which will help businesses of all sizes reduce the print services burden on IT staff,” he added.

“Y Soft continues to advance its portfolio and now has a range of offerings to provide customers with multiple entry points into cloud-based print and print management,” says Robert Palmer, Research VP with IDC’s Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions Group. “YSoft OMNI Series offers a unique value proposition by providing a solution for those customers anxious to deploy Microsoft Universal Print for use with legacy printing devices.”

Y Soft has a history of designing and manufacturing companion hardware devices for printers, and this experience – along with being a Microsoft Gold-certified ISV partner —  makes the company uniquely qualified to offer YSoft OMNI Series as the perfect solution for Universal Print capabilities today and the future services that YSoft OMNI Apps will provide.

–Cloud-based services offer IT hassle-free hosted infrastructure and a choice of print management features–

Y Soft, the leading enterprise workflow solutions provider, has announced YSoft SAFEQ CloudTM, a new family of cloud print management and hosted infrastructure services. YSoft SAFEQ Cloud is comprised of YSoft SAFEQ CloudProTM and YSoft SAFEQ BreezeTM. The new services remove the need for locally managed print infrastructure, like servers, and dramatically reduces the cost of providing and running robust print services—all delivered by the world’s preferred print management provider.

SAFEQ CloudPro offers robust print management features with a reserved infrastructure ideal for the enterprise. Additionally, SAFEQ CloudPro is offered with a choice of resiliency levels, Core, Ultra, and Elite, each providing increasingly higher resiliency and performance. A Custom level further enables Y Soft to meet the special infrastructure requirements on an individual customer basis, including hosting using a customer’s/partner’s own cloud provider. SAFEQ CloudPro can be used with or without a Y Soft Edge device.

SAFEQ Breeze is designed for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that do not have or do not want to hire IT staff to manage their print services. With core print management features and a shared hosted infrastructure, SAFEQ Breeze can also be used with or without a Y Soft Edge device.

Both SAFEQ CloudPro and SAFEQ Breeze securely and effortlessly manage an organisation’s print infrastructure. The Y Soft Edge device offers businesses additional document security as job processing is done within the business’ own private and secure network, and only metadata travels securely to the cloud. It is also well suited for remote locations with low bandwidth or latency issues.

Robert Palmer, research vice president, IDC Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions, said, “Companies of every size are leveraging the cloud to help lower IT costs, reduce IT burden, and speed up their digital transformation initiatives. However, each company has different requirements, and the YSoft SAFEQ Cloud family offers businesses the versatility and flexibility needed to assist organisations no matter where they are on their cloud journey.”

Václav Muchna, CEO and co-founder, Y Soft, said, “With YSoft SAFEQ CloudPro and YSoft SAFEQ Breeze, we are delivering on our mission to help businesses run smarter.  We significantly invested in our product development to introduce a native cloud solution that efficiently scales in the cloud as businesses’ needs grow. We will continue to add to our cloud family of services and functionalities to meet the needs of our partners and customers.

“Y Soft’s future is firmly rooted in the cloud.”

Y Soft unveils premium 3D lesson plans and special EDU bundle to help educators use 3D printing in STEAM curriculum

New exclusive be3D Academy lesson plans available only to YSoft be3D eDee customers

Y Soft Corporation, the leading enterprise workflow solutions provider, has announced premium 3D lessons in YSoft be3D Academy and a new 3D/2D EDU bundle designed to save schools money by combining their regular 2D print management needs with Y Soft 3D printers.

3D printing in education is a growing market with more and more educational institutions adopting fleets of 3D printers to help STEAM classes illustrate difficult concepts, enhance hands-on interactive learning, and drive class engagement. To help support those efforts,
Y Soft worked with educators to develop YSoft be3D Academy. The online library of 3D curriculum features comprehensive lesson plans, guides, videos, models, and presentations. It provides everything needed to conduct a STEAM subject lesson using 3D printing. A model database provides additional models that teachers can use to build their own lessons.

While standard be3D Academy 3D lessons are available for anyone to use for free, Y Soft now provides premium 3D lesson plans exclusively for all eDee customers, including those that purchase the new EDU bundle. Premium lessons have the same rich resources as standard content, but only eDee customers can access them. Premium lessons are available today, and more will be added quarterly.

Elke Heisschief marketing officer, Y Soft, said, “These premium lessons, and the ones that follow, demonstrate our resolve to provide educators with easy to use and easy to follow lesson plans that help keep students engaged whether in a classroom or even at homeWe’ve learned from schools that these lessons have helped teachers quickly ramp up their home learning classes during the current work/study at home situation caused by COVID-19.”

Adam O’Neill, managing director, Australia and New Zealand, Y Soft, said, Feedback from customers in Australia has been positive as they have moved to a learning at home situation. With be3D Academy teachers have been able to access practical content quickly and easily. This includes being able to bring teachers up to speed, even those with little to no experience in 3D printing, because of the comprehensiveness and easy-to-follow curriculum provided.

The files can either be printed by staff still onsite who can then share photos of the finished product with the students or the design files can be saved for when the students go back to school. According to one school be3D Academy was a lifesaver by providing lessons and activities that could engage the students in a practical way, even though they were at home.

EDU bundle

Y Soft also announced new affordable educationfocused EDU bundle that includes everything a school needs to start leveraging 3D printing in their classrooms. With scarce resources, educators need to be efficient in their print services offerings while finding new ways to engage students in learning. The EDU bundle combines print management for a school’s 2D printers and 3D printers, accomplished through YSoft SafeQ, the company’s print management and document capture software. Combining their print management options and leveraging available grant monies allows schools to justify the investment into 3D printing.

The EDU bundle includes:

  • YSoft be3D eDee printer, a desktop 3D printer with an enclosed chassis for safety
  • three years of free access to premium 3D lessons in YSoft be3D Academy
  • DeeControl layering software, easy-to-use PC/Mac application for 3D print preparation
  • Intelligent software including:
    • YSoft SafeQ for secure access, the ability to print at any 2D or eDee printer and usage reports

Elke Heiss said, “This bundle helps schools create an opportunity for students to excel in STEAM subjects and ready them for their future careers at an affordable cost. When a school choosethe be3D eDee solution, they get YSoft SafeQ to manage their 2D and 3D print needs, a unique value only Y Soft can offer.”

The education bundle also includes 3D print training, multi-year support, and installation. Full details can be found at https://be3dacademy.ysoft.com/en/3d-print-solution.

YSoft SafeQ now provides secure printing from SAP

YSoft SafeQ integration with SAP ensures accountability and increased document security

Y Soft, a leading enterprise office solution provider, announced that its flagship product, YSoft SafeQ, can be integrated with SAP, a leading enterprise resource planning solution.

When integrated with SAP, business documents are processed through YSoft SafeQ’s secure print queues, and users pick up their documents after authenticating themselves at any YSoft SafeQ equipped printer in the company’s network. This makes documents more secure as they are not left exposed in the print output tray; the prints only process when the user is at the printer. YSoft SafeQ can also handle batch printing from SAP, and documents are printed in the original order. Direct print queues can also be supported.

In addition, with YSoft SafeQ’s robust reporting, businesses can account for prints originating from SAP as they strive to reduce costs and look for ways to reduce unnecessary waste and improve their sustainability efforts. Reporting also provides accountability for print activity within the SAP application.

Y Soft offers three levels of integration between YSoft SafeQ and SAP. The initial two levels can be performed by Y Soft partner resellers and an organisation’s SAP administrator.

Y Soft’s professional services team provides deeper integration for advanced functionality through the company’s available extensions and integrations.

All the available extensions and integrations that add additional print management and document capture value to a business can be viewed on the newly available YSoft SafeQ Extensions and Integrations webpage. This list of extensions and integrations previously visible only to partners via the Y Soft Partner Portal, can now be accessed by potential and existing customers on the company’s website, www.ysoft.com. These extensions and integrations allow Y Soft and Y Soft partner resellers to design a solution for customers specific needs.

With the integration between YSoft SafeQ and SAP, users can now automatically process print jobs securely and streamline the transfer of print job data over their network. Additionally, SAP users can view the status of their print job directly in the SAP NetWeaver interface.

Matej Štefaník, VP of Product Marketing, Y Soft, said, “SAP is the standard in ERP systems, and YSoft SafeQ is the standard for enterprise printing. Customers want these two leading products to work seamlessly together.”

Small and medium-sized businesses prefer cloud-first print management with edge computing

Sydney, AUSTRALIA – Y Soft Corporation has released the findings of a global, independent survey that explored the cloud and cloud-based print management preferences of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

The report, Cloud Print Management, is based on a survey of technology decision makers regarding their use of cloud technology today, their concerns and preferences for using cloud technology in general, and specifically for print management services. Additionally, their knowledge, use and preference for edge computing was of interest.

As a leader in enterprise workflow solutions for print management and document capture, Y Soft wanted to study SMB’s preference and concern for adopting cloud and edge technology. Y Soft has been a provider of edge technology for use in large enterprises since 2008 and its use in SMB could be equally beneficial, Y Soft hypothesised.

The survey results provided many interesting insights on SMB technology use and preferences. Highlights include:

  • Public cloud application use is ubiquitous – 93 per cent (85 per cent in Australia) of SMBs use public cloud applications, typically Microsoft Office 365 or similar
  • 50 per cent (45 per cent in Australia) of SMBs have a cloud-first preference and 10 per cent (6 per cent in Australia) will only use cloud applications
  • Security is a concern for SMBs across all applications; 52 per cent (48 per cent in Australia) cited security as a top concern whereas 61 per cent (57 per cent in Australia) cited it as a top concern for cloud-based print management

However, mid-sized companies, U.S.-based companies and companies with more than 50 printers, are the most bullish on cloud-based print management. Over all respondents, 29 per cent (28 per cent in Australia) are planning to purchase cloud-based print management services within the next 12 months.

  • 35 per cent (26 per cent in Australia) of SMBs already use edge computing and 56 per cent (55 per cent in Australia) prefer cloud print management services used with an edge device in place.

The edge device as described in the survey would enable print jobs to be processed locally on the company’s network. Considering SMB’s concern for cloud-based print management security, (61 per cent global, 57 per cent in Australia), this indicates that the additional security peace of mind that comes with edge computing and its other benefits are desired.

“As we speak to customers and partners and study market trends, SMB’s existing use and preference for edge computing as part of cloud-based print services, confirms our belief that edge devices have an extremely important role,” said Ondřej Krajíček, Y Soft Chief Technology Strategist. “Unlike their enterprise counterparts, SMB’s appetite for a cloud-first approach is much larger. We believe, however, that this will change, and organisations of all sizes will demand cloud-first for all services, including print management,” he added.

Migration to cloud applications has been very successful, in fact, too successful. Due to latency, bandwidth and locations where Internet connection is slow or unreliable, processing data closer to where the data lives using edge computing is now a matter of need. In the case of print, by processing the job locally on the company’s network, the company has extra peace of mind for their security and privacy concerns. The results of the survey indicate this need is well understood within SMB.

The full report, which includes additional insights on how SMBs view print management as part of digital transformation, and participant demographics, can be downloaded from Y Soft’s website.

Cloud-based print services made possible for customers in Singapore and Hong Kong with YSoft SafeQ

Y Soft® Corporation, a leading enterprise office solution provider, has announced details on YSoft SafeQ 6 use in private and on-premise/private cloud deployments for Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Customers of all sizes are moving to cloud services for many aspects of their business, primarily to reduce server and maintenance costs. Print services, including print, copy and scan workflows, can also benefit from being entirely private cloud-based or partially cloud and partially on-premise, commonly referred to as EDGE computing when an Edge device is used for processing print jobs locally.

Whether hosted by Microsoft Azure, AWS or other hosted data centres, YSoft SafeQ’s full print management features including pull-printing, automated scan workflows, copy and fax services. In addition, YSoft SafeQ’s easy-to-use online dashboard helps administrators manage the print fleet and monitor activity through reports. Customers can also export reporting data directly into business intelligence applications such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau for further analysis using Y Soft-provided templates.

Wouter Koelewijn, chief product officer, Y Soft, said, “The effort made in re-architecting YSoft SafeQ 6 is paying dividends in our ability to satisfy customers’ needs to move print services infrastructure to the cloud. Y Soft can offer YSoft SafeQ 6 cloud deployment with the same pricing and choice of license or subscription as its current on-premise offering.”

Allison Correia, senior analyst, Document Solutions, IDC, said, “Companies of all sizes are increasingly moving information to the cloud. Y Soft’s approach to cloud-based print management and document capture provides the flexibility and scalability for IT leaders to implement the cloud computing environment that meets their needs.”
