SYDNEY, 4 June 2026: Getac Technology Corporation (Getac), a leading provider of rugged computing and mobile video solutions with advanced in-house manufacturing capabilities, today announced the Australia and New Zealand expansion of its ZX80 range of 8-inch fully rugged tablets with the launch of the new ZX80W and ZX80W-EX two lightweight, highly mobile Windows 11 devices built on ARM architecture.
With these launches, Getac is meeting growing regional demand for power-efficient, fanless rugged solutions running the Windows 11 operating system (OS). The devices are designed for a wide range of industrial environments, including defence, utilities, and transport and logistics sectors.
Built on energy-efficient ARM architecture
The ZX80W and ZX80W-EX are designed to operate in remote and regional areas of Australia and New Zeeland. Both tablets use Qualcomm®’s innovative QCS6490 platform, built on ARM architecture, which is renowned for its exceptional energy efficiency and high performance-per-watt. The result is a fast, fanless computing experience that lets users work uninterrupted for long periods, even in remote locations where access to device charging facilities is limited. Both devices also feature 12GB of inbuilt LPDDR5 memory for smooth multitasking, while 256GB of universal flash storage (UFS) provides ample capacity for on-device storage needs.
Windows 11 functionality in a compact form factor
The ZX80W shows how Windows on ARM can support rugged computing across Australia and New Zealand. Traditionally, delivering full Windows functionality in the field required larger, more power-hungry processors. Using ARM’s thermal and energy efficiency, the ZX80W effortlessly runs Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC in a remarkably compact, fanless chassis. For customers, this provides the robust security and app compatibility of a true Windows ecosystem with the lightweight mobility and all-day battery life often associated with Android devices.
AI-driven edge intelligence
The ZX80W and ZX80W-EX feature a 6th Generation Qualcomm AI Engine that supports real-time intelligence at the edge. Their Qualcomm® Hexagon NPU delivers high-speed recognition, real-time analytics, and on-device automation designed to maximise productivity in demanding field environments. This reduces cloud dependency for faster, more reliable processing when an internet connection is limited or unavailable.
This powerful edge functionality makes both devices ideally suited to a range of use cases including unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flight control in the utilities industry, predictive asset management, and electronic logging devices (ELDs) in transport and logistics. The ZX80W-EX also supports use in hazardous environments.
Fully rugged, outdoor-ready
Like all Getac devices, the ZX80W and ZX80W-EX are built rugged from the ground up to thrive in Australia’s and New Zealand’s harsh and unpredictable environments. Both devices are MIL-STD-810H and IP67 certified, and vibration and drop resistant up to six feet (1.8 metres). They also feature daylight-readable displays and wide operating temperature ranges: the ZX80W operates in temperatures from minus 29 degrees Celsius to 63 degrees Celsius; and the ZX80W-EX tolerates temperatures from minus 21 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius. Despite their rugged design, the ZX80W weighs just 590 grams, while the ZX80W-EX weighs 780 grams, making both devices lightweight for extended use in the field.
The ZX80W-EX is also ATEX/IECEx Zone 2/22 certified for operator safety in hazardous or potentially explosive environments. Further intrinsically safe design features include 0.6 millimetre thicker display glass for greater durability, an enhanced back cover for increased impact protection, a secure port cover for the main docking connector, and mylar seals on all exposed screw covers.
