James by Sonance Wedge X Series now available through Amber Technology

August 2026

The new James by Sonance Wedge X Series of architectural loudspeakers is now available through Amber Technology in Australia, bringing updated acoustic technologies and installation features to the brand’s signature wedge speaker design.

Developed for applications where walls and ceilings meet, the Wedge X Series combines a 90-degree architectural form with marine-grade aluminium construction and customisable configurations. The new series builds on the established James by Sonance wedge design with Quadratech tweeter technology, enhanced woofers, updated crossovers, and installation features designed to give integrators greater flexibility across residential and commercial projects.

The Wedge X Series includes the WX48QT and WX58QT models. Each speaker is built to order and can be customised by length, number of channels, and finish to suit the requirements of individual projects.

Updated performance and acoustic control

The Wedge X Series introduces refined Quadratech tweeters and crossovers to provide neutral voicing and consistent coverage. Enhanced woofers extend low-frequency response and increase output, supporting full-range performance across a variety of applications.

An integrated boundary switch lets integrators optimise acoustic performance based on speaker placement, including free-space, wall, ceiling, and corner installations. This simplifies setup and reduces the need for extensive equalisation (EQ) adjustments when adapting the speakers to different environments.

Key features include:

  • Quadratech tweeter technology for clear, balanced coverage
  • enhanced woofers for extended bass response and increased output
  • CDX crossover and neutral voicing
  • boundary switch for free-space, wall, ceiling, or corner placement
  • secure grille clip system to help prevent accidental grille removal
  • redesigned mounting brackets for greater installation flexibility
  • customisable length, channel, and finish configurations
  • availability in 16 standard colours.

Alberto Zamudio, general manager, Residential Install, Amber Technology, said, “The Wedge X Series builds on a distinctive James by Sonance design while introducing practical improvements for integrators. The combination of flexible configuration options, updated acoustic technologies, and improved installation features makes the range well suited to projects where both performance and architectural integration are important.

“The ability to customise the speakers for different project requirements also gives our integration partners greater flexibility when designing audio solutions around a space, rather than having to design the space around the loudspeaker.”

Designed around architectural integration

The Wedge X Series is designed to mount where walls meet ceilings, so the loudspeakers can integrate into architectural elements while delivering consistent sound coverage. Marine-grade aluminium construction supports use across a range of environments, while each built-to-order speaker is supplied with appropriate mounting hardware and templates to simplify installation.

Redesigned mounting brackets can adapt to uneven surfaces, giving integrators more flexibility during installation. The grille clip system provides secure attachment, including in more demanding environments.

The Wedge X Series is available in one-, two-, and three-channel configurations. Its customisable dimensions and finishes give integrators options for tailoring each speaker to the architecture and audio requirements of residential and commercial spaces.

The Wedge X Series made its US debut at CEDIA 2025 and was introduced to global customers at ISE 2026.

The James by Sonance Wedge X Series is now available in Australia through Amber Technology’s authorised dealer and integration partner network.
