Safesky Systems appoints Jack Kormas as chief executive officer

Safesky Systems strengthens its executive leadership as it scales Australian technology, deepens industry partnerships, and progresses commercial opportunities across key international markets

December 1, 2025 – Safesky Systems, an Australian defence technology company specialising in the design, manufacture, and deployment of advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS), has appointed experienced aerospace and defence leader Jack Kormas as its new chief executive officer commencing December 1, strengthening the company’s leadership capability as it advances its commercial and global market strategy. Jack Kormas brings decades of operational, engineering, and executive experience from complex aviation environments, positioning him to guide the company through its next phase of expansion.

Jack Kormas’s appointment reflects Safesky Systems’ commitment to scaling its Australian-developed technology while expanding its international presence. With Australia to remain the company’s headquarters and base for research and development, Jack will lead efforts to grow engineering capability, strengthen local manufacturing partnerships, and increase Safesky Systems’ operational readiness for global deployment and building a resilient, competitive, and globally recognised capability.

Safesky Systems is preparing to open a new facility in Melbourne that will support small-scale manufacturing, systems integration, and technical refinement of its airborne surveillance and situational-awareness products. Jack Kormas will oversee the establishment and operational ramp-up of this site, ensuring it forms a core part of Safesky Systems’ long-term capability.

Dion Epstein, co-founder, Safesky Systems, said, “Jack Kormas brings a level of experience that will materially strengthen how Safesky Systems builds, delivers, and scales its technology. His background in managing complex aerospace programs and leading multidisciplinary teams gives him a practical understanding of what it takes to move from development to sustained commercial operation. Jack’s appointment positions the business to operate with greater certainty as we increase our international engagement and prepare for wider deployment of our systems.

“This is a turning point for Safesky Systems. Customers and governments are looking for capability that is robust, proven, and ready for integration into demanding environments. Jack’s leadership will help ensure our technology meets those expectations and that Safesky Systems is structured to support meaningful, long-term partnerships. His experience gives Safesky Systems a clear advantage as we continue to mature our product line and pursue opportunities across multiple markets.”

Safesky Systems continues to gain interest from defence and national security agencies in Asia, North America, and Europe. The company is prioritising demonstration programs for its fixed-wing VTRX platform, recognising demonstrations as a decisive step in securing commercial agreements.

Jack Kormas, CEO, Safesky Systems, said, “Safesky Systems has developed technology with clear operational relevance, and the task ahead is to translate that capability into consistent, scalable delivery for customers. I am looking forward to building on the work already underway, strengthening Safesky Systems’ management, engineering and operational frameworks, and ensuring we are well positioned to meet demand in Australia and overseas. Safesky Systems has the right foundation, and my focus will be on guiding the organisation as it moves into more structured growth.

“Stepping into this role is an opportunity I value deeply. Safesky Systems has a strong team, a clear product direction, and substantial momentum in key international markets. I am particularly energised by the chance to expand our Australian capability base while supporting the growing interest we are seeing globally. I am committed to ensuring our technology is ready for deployment and that Safesky Systems is equipped to support customers with the level of discipline and responsiveness they expect.”
